Great Deal on Amex Point Transfers to VelocityVelocity Frequent Flyer is currently offering 15-25% bonus points for transferring Amex Membership Rewards points to Velocity until 15 March 2019. In addition, some Amex cardholders can even earn instant Velocity Gold or Platinum status by transferring Amex points to Velocity!

There are now less than two months until the upcoming changes to Amex Membership Rewards take effect. If you still have points in an Amex Membership Rewards Ascent or Gateway account, and your Amex points are due to lose their value on 15 April 2019, this could be a good opportunity to transfer your points out of Amex at a good rate.

Here is the current deal available to most Amex Membership Rewards members:

  • Transfer up to 250,000 Amex points to Velocity = 15% bonus Velocity points
  • Transfer 250,001 to 500,000 Amex points to Velocity = 20% bonus Velocity points
  • Transfer 500,001+ Amex points to Velocity = 25% bonus Velocity points

The exact offer depends on which type of Amex card you have. But similar deals are available for members enrolled in the Membership Rewards Ascent, Gateway, Premium Ascent, Business Ascent and David Jones Membership Rewards programs.

If you have an Amex Membership Rewards Ascent Premium account, there is a good chance that your existing Amex points will not lose their value in the upcoming program devaluation. (However, this was offered on an invitation-only basis to selected cardholders so is not guaranteed for everyone. If you’re in doubt, contact Amex to check this.) Either way, Velocity is throwing in an additional sweetener to Amex Platinum Charge and Centurion cardholders…

Amex Membership Rewards Ascent Premium members can earn twelve months of instant Gold status with Virgin Australia (in addition to the bonus points) by transferring at least 250,001 Amex points to Velocity during this promotion! Alternatively, transfer more than 500,000 Amex points to Velocity to receive twelve months of Velocity Platinum status.

This is a good offer on several fronts. Several AFF members say they will be taking advantage of it.

Will be good for a 15% bonus before they devalue.

Thats an awesome deal it seems….the platinum tier might be enough for me to transfer to velocity (usually I transfer to KF).
