AFF Review: Cathay Pacific A350 Economy (SYD-HKG)

I am flying CX PE in Dec, I am QR Gold. I wonder for SYD QF J lounge, if it is still under renovation? I went to that lounge 4 years ago and it was terrible in terms of seats and food. Should I go to The House instead?

It's not under renovation - these haven't begun after they were postponed due to COVID. I haven't personally been to the House but I've heard much better things about it than the QF J lounge (I think I mention that exact thing in the review)

Interesting report @WilsonM .
Did you simply transit HKG on way to TPE and how long in TW? Any travel tips for TW?

Transited in HKG as I had a stopover in HKG on the return for 4 days.

Spent 3 days in Taiwan and loved it - very walkable place, with a great combination of old and new architecture - very (pleasantly) surprised with the amount of green around! Also the street food was great, and quite cheap, about $8-11 for plates of rice with BBQ pork and vegetables. Did Taipei 101 which gave a good view of the city, and also saw the Chiang Kai Shek memorial, where a few tourists were around but not too crowded. Honestly, would highly recommend TPE and TW

Thanks. Spent a few days in a very undeveloped TW in 1976. Thought it might be good to have a look around again, maybe some diving, some visits to less habited region.

Don't want to take it too OT but by walkable do you mean Taipei? Or hiking/country in general

Our experience as SG and flying CX J from Melbourne recently, as usual not impressed with Q Lounge, dark and uninviting.
Moved over to The House at 10 pm, staff very welcoming, runway views, bar service, not much variety with the food offerings but definitely better quality with delicious desserts.
They closed at 11pm , 50 minutes before our flight.
Even though departing SYD, certainly worth a look would be my suggestion @kamchatsky - enjoy ✈️

Another upvote here for The House.

Went in on complimentary passes, but having now done both the Sydney and Melbourne venues, can confirm it's the first lounge I visited where if I had paid the admission price, I felt I would have gotten good value from the experience.

I'll happily pay my way in to either ahead of any future international departures from SYD or MEL.
