Bonus Velocity Status Credits Offer (January-March 2026)

Velocity Frequent Flyer has launched a new 2026 bonus status credits offer for Virgin Australia flyers. You can earn between 45 and 125 bonus Velocity status credits by flying Virgin Australia multiple times until 31 March.

This is the same offer that Virgin Australia Business Flyer customers could access from 12 January 2026, although it’s now open to everyone.

This offer works a bit differently to past promotions where Velocity has offered double status credits on all Virgin Australia flights. Instead, you can earn specific amounts of bonus status credits when flying 2-6 times with Virgin Australia between 12 January and 31 March 2026.

The maximum amount of bonus status credits you could earn from this promotion is 125. That’s half the amount of status credits you’d need to reach Velocity Silver status.

To take advantage of this offer, you would need to activate it on the Velocity Frequent Flyer website or in the Velocity App.

How does this new offer work?

This isn’t a traditional double status credits offer. With this promo, you’ll earn a fixed quota of bonus status credits based on the number of Virgin Australia flights you take between 12 January and 31 March 2026.

The bonus Velocity status credits you can earn are as follows:

Number of VA flightsBonus status credits
245
365
485
5105
6 or more125

Even if you activate this offer after booking and flying, you can still earn the bonus status credits. The flights just need to take place during the offer period and you must activate the offer by 31 March 2026. This includes flights booked and flown before you activate the offer, as long as the flights were in the offer period.

According to the offer terms and conditions, an eligible flight for the purposes of this promotion is:

A one-way domestic or short-haul international flight marketed and operated by Virgin Australia with a VA flight number excluding Virgin Australia flights VA1-29 operated by Qatar Airways for Virgin Australia;

Reward Seats, codeshare flights and services on partner airlines are not eligible for bonus status credits.

You’ll receive the bonus status credits in a lump sum up to six weeks after the promotion finishes. This means you’ll probably receive the extra status credits in April or May. Keep this timing in mind if you’re relying on those bonus status credits to renew or upgrade your Velocity tier.

How to maximise this bonus Velocity status credits offer in 2026

This promotion awards a flat rate of bonus status credits on any Virgin Australia fare that normally earns status credits. So, you can get more out of this offer when buying cheaper airfares.

Economy Lite fares are eligible for this offer. But you’ll earn a much higher base rate of status credits with Economy Choice tickets – for not that much extra cost. So, booking cheaper Economy Choice fares would appear to be the “sweet spot” with this promotion.

When booking a connecting itinerary with two flights, this should also count as two eligible flights for this promotion. So, booking connecting flights (as is often the case when trying to maximise status credits) could help you get more out of this offer.

For example, flying Melbourne-Ballina return on a “Lite” fare would earn 100 status credits (including 85 bonus status credits) at $3.52 per SC.

For what it’s worth, you’ll earn status credits at $3.57 per SC if you booked Choice for the above fare, but you’ll also get a raft of extra benefits!

Isn't that basically the business flyer offer being extended to everyone?

The start date is the same. The restrospective component was not advertised before. Maybe some issues with registering in January.

It's not 100% clear (at least from my read of the T&Cs) that bookings before 12 Jan are excluded but I assume they are.

Regardless it's not appealing enough to change my travel plans. Unless they offer triple credits I'm seeing more value in QFF.

Based on my reading of the T's and C's, bookings before 12 Jan are excluded (actions have to be conducted in the promotion period is my understanding)
