Haven’t started your Christmas shopping yet? Fear not, there is still time… and right now there are also plenty of opportunities to earn bonus frequent flyer points on your Christmas shopping!

Both Qantas and Velocity Frequent Flyer have released a range of bonus point offers and sales in the lead up to Christmas. Right now, you can earn bonus points on your online Christmas shopping, including some very generous wine offers. There are also some good sales on airfares.

Bonus frequent flyer points for online shopping

The Qantas Shopping Online Mall and Velocity e-Store are both currently offering bonus frequent flyer points when shopping with many online retailers.

You can normally earn 2 Velocity points per dollar with most stores when shopping via the Velocity e-Store. But bonus points are available with around 37 online retailers until 22 December 2019. You can now earn up to 10 points per dollar spent with some stores, and 8 points per dollar at David Jones.

Meanwhile, bonus points are currently available with around 143 online stores on the Qantas Online Mall.

Bonus points on wine purchases

Stocking up on wine for Christmas? As usual, Qantas Wine has some generous bonus point offers currently available when you buy a case of wine. The best current offer is 20,000 bonus Qantas points on a case of six bottles of Heirloom Alcala McLaren Vale Grenache 2018, costing $384. (It costs more than this just to buy 20,000 Qantas top-up points!) This particular offer is exclusively available to Qantas Wine premium members, but there are plenty of other deals available to the public as well.

Until 19 December 2019, you can also earn up to 10,000 bonus Velocity points on purchases from the new Velocity Wine Store. You’ll receive 5,000 Velocity points on wine purchases of more than $180, or 10,000 points when spending at least $360.

By paying for purchases with a points-earning credit card, you can earn even more frequent flyer points.

Double Velocity status credits at Coles

During December, you can earn double Velocity status credits via the Flybuys program. You’ll earn 2 status credits for every $100 spent at Coles, instead of the usual 1 status credit. With this offer, the maximum number of status credits you can earn at Coles this month doubles to 20.

Qantas & Virgin Australia flight sales

It’s now the sixth day of the Qantas “12 Days of Christmas” sale. Each day, Qantas is releasing sale fares to a new destination. So far, Qantas destinations on sale include the United States, UK, South Africa, South America and domestic destinations.

Virgin Australia is currently running a sale on its new flights to Japan, with fares for $699 return from Brisbane, Sydney, Cairns and Adelaide to Tokyo in Economy available until 16 December 2019.
