Secretly Scheming a Surprise Holiday

One crafty member hopes to surprise a lucky loved one with an overseas holiday to a secret destination. They know the surprise will be appreciated, but ponder the risk of inadvertently blowing their cover. Countless opportunities exist for the secret to be let out.  Overheard phone calls and misplaced tickets are just the start of a long list of potential downfalls.

Some of our members have attempted planning their own surprise getaways, with mixed success. One member blew their cover when casually asking about a certain international airline. In another case, an airport staff member unwittingly mentioned the destination and gave the surprise away. However one member managed to pull it off without a hitch, organising an entire honeymoon without revealing to destination to their fiancé!

To avoid spoiling the surprise, our members suggest warning staff at the check-in counter that the destination is a secret. They also recommend that the passenger’s frequent flyer details are not added to the booking straight away as it might show up in their frequent flyer account.

Working undercover is not everyone’s cup of tea. Some choose to surprise loved ones with an upgrade to business or first class. Our members find that this kind of surprise is appreciated just as much, while being a lot easier to keep secret.

Whether our member is successful or not, we’re sure they’ll have a great trip. Join the discussion HERE.
