Qantas is offering up to 30% off the Qantas Points needed for domestic Economy Class reward seats.

The promotion is available for bookings made between 9-16 October 2026, for travel on Qantas-operated flights around Australia. The discount applies automatically when booking eligible Economy Classic Flight Rewards.

Depending on when you travel, you’ll receive either 20% or 30% off the normal number of Qantas Points required.

How the Qantas Classic Reward sale works

Qantas is offering a 20% discount on Economy Classic Flight Rewards for travel during the following periods:

  • 1 November 2026-3 January 2027
  • 1 March-30 April 2027

The larger 30% discount applies for travel during:

  • 4 January-28 February 2027
  • 1 May-27 September 2027

You’ll need to book by 11.59pm AEDT on 16 October 2026 to receive the discount.

Only Qantas-operated domestic flights are eligible, so the discount doesn’t apply to Jetstar reward seats. It’s also limited to Economy Class, and the cash co-payment isn’t discounted.

Qantas flights operated by Alliance Airlines, Sunstate Airlines and other domestic operators are still eligible for the discount.

How much could you save?

The 30% discount brings some of Qantas’ shorter domestic Classic Flight Rewards down to just 6,400 Qantas Points one-way.

Here are some examples of discounted pricing during the 30% off travel periods:

  • Brisbane-Sydney for 6,400 Qantas Points + $61
  • Melbourne-Gold Coast for 9,600 Qantas Points + $60
  • Perth-Canberra for 14,400 Qantas Points + $107

The discounted pricing should appear automatically when you search for an eligible Classic Flight Reward on the Qantas website.

However, the pricing in the top date bar might reflect Jetstar pricing, which is usually cheaper. With the 30% discount, Qantas Economy Class rewards are actually cheaper than Jetstar bookings except for flights shorter than 600 miles.

That makes this quite a decent promotion if you were already planning to use Qantas Points for domestic Economy Class travel.

Economy Class rewards aren’t always the most valuable use of Qantas Points, particularly when cash fares are cheap. But they can make a lot of sense during expensive travel periods, or when booking relatively close to departure.

Qantas has run similar sales before

This isn’t the first time Qantas has discounted Classic Flight Rewards, although these promotions are nowhere near as predictable as Qantas’ Double Status Credits offers.

Qantas most recently offered 20% off domestic Classic Flight Rewards in May 2026. Before that, there was a 25% discount on selected international Qantas rewards in December 2025.

Qantas has offered larger 30% discounts on various occasions in the past, including on domestic rewards in January 2023.
