Virgin Australia is currently offering 3x Velocity points on new Virgin flight bookings! This offer is running until Monday, 1 April 2019.
Triple Velocity points apply to flights marketed and operated by Virgin Australia, for travel any time until 18 February 2020. This includes domestic and international Virgin flights in all classes of travel, but the triple points do not apply to codeshare flights operated by partner airlines.
To take part in this promotion, you must first register. If you received an email from Velocity Frequent Flyer about this offer, you can click on the link in the email to register. Alternatively, do so on the Virgin Australia website.
The 3x Velocity points will be earned on the base points for all flights, and don’t take into account any Silver, Gold or Platinum tier bonuses.
For Virgin Australia domestic and short-haul international flights, you’ll normally earn 5 Velocity points per dollar spent on your ticket. So, with this promotion you’ll earn 15 Velocity points for every $1 spent. For long-haul flights to/from Los Angeles or Hong Kong (and any domestic or short-haul connections as part of the same ticket), you’ll earn points based on the distance flown and the type of fare purchased. Getaway and Elevate fares usually earn 0.5 Velocity points per mile flown, while Business fares earn 2 Velocity points per mile, before any bonus points.
To coincide with the triple Velocity points promotion, Virgin Australia is also currently running a network-wide sale. Plus, don’t forget to use a Virgin Australia discount code when booking to save even more money on Virgin flights. There are currently promo codes available offering up to 30% off the advertised price.
Using the promo code AMX19, for example, you could fly from Sydney to Hong Kong for as low as $514 return on a Getaway ticket and earn at least 13,755 Velocity points during this promo (excluding any tier bonuses for Silver, Gold and Platinum members). And on a round-trip ticket from Melbourne to Los Angeles in Premium Economy, you’d earn at least 59,580 Velocity points by booking during this promotion.
With this promotion, you’ll earn 3x Velocity points regardless of whether you book on the Virgin Australia website or a travel agent. That’s probably a good thing, as many people have been unable to book flights on Virgin Australia’s website lately due to major technical problems.
