Qantas Frequent Flyer is discounting the points required for selected Classic Flight Reward bookings in Economy Class by 30%, for bookings made between 16-20 March 2022. The discount is available on selected routes, for travel dates from 1 May 2022.

Eligible routes include the “golden triangle” domestic routes between Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, as well as various international routes to Asia, Fiji and Hawaii.

This map shows all the eligible routes where the 30% Qantas Classic Flight Reward discount is currently available on Economy flights:

The discount will be applied automatically when you book on the Qantas website.

The discount will also apply if you book a ticket where at least one of the flights is on a route eligible to be discounted. For example, you could book a flight from Brisbane to Perth via Sydney with Qantas, and the entire itinerary will be discounted because there is a Brisbane-Sydney flight on the ticket.

This Qantas Classic Flight Reward discount is not available on Premium Economy, Business or First Class, or on flights operated by partner airlines. The taxes & carrier charges still need to be paid in full.

Qantas award bookings can be made up to 353 days in advance, so you could book now for travel dates until the first week of March 2023.

If you book now but need to change your travel dates at a later time, you can still retain the 30% discount as long as the booking was originally made between 16-20 March 2022 and the new travel date is after 1 May 2022.

See the Qantas website for full terms & conditions.

Qantas also announced today that all its flights to New Zealand will be “points planes” during May, meaning every seat on every flight is available to book as a Classic Flight Reward. Unfortunately, New Zealand is not an eligible destination for this promotion.

Get 30% off the points required for Economy Classic Flight Rewards between eligible international and domestic locations. Book an eligible Classic Flight Reward between 16 and 20 Mar 2022, for travel from 1 May 2022.

Possible opportunity to cancel and rebook existing flights for a lower points value.

I just booked my one flight to retain status and that carbon offset 'Green Tier' thing, this will now be cancelled and rebooked in 2 days time ;):) If my green tier is approved prior to rebooking I will also save 0.19 cents when rebooking.

Which routes?

Here is the fine print Relevant bits in bold.

> Classic Flight Rewards are subject to capacity controls, availability is limited, and some flights may not have any Classic Flight Rewards available. The 30% discount on points will be automatically applied to the Qantas Points required for Eligible Classic Flight Rewards booked between 5:00am (AEDT) 16 March 2022 and 11:59pm (AEDT) Sunday 20 March 2022 for travel between 1 May 2022 and 04 March 2023. If your Trip includes multiple eligible Classic Flight Reward segments in a single Trip the 30% discount on points will be applied to each segment individually. If your Trip includes multiple cabins, e.g. Adelaide to Sydney in Business and Sydney to Brisbane in Economy, the discount will not apply to your booking. If a Trip includes a Transfer (domestic - same day) or a Transfer (international - a flight within 24 hours) on other partner airlines, that trip is not eligible for this offer. Has anyone tested how far this can be extended as a concept?? If I put in say OOL-SYD-SIN the 30% discount applies even though OOL-SYD isn't listed as an eligible flight. But it doesn't work if I put in SYD-SIN-LHR which *should* be eligible under the ToRs.
