For a limited time until 22 January 2023, you can redeem Qantas Frequent Flyer points for domestic Economy Class flights at a 30% discount.

This promotion is available for travel dates between 1 March 2023 and 30 June 2023.

The 30% discount off the points required will be applied when booking any Qantas domestic flight as a Classic Flight Reward on the Qantas website. For example, you could book a one-way Qantas Economy flight from Sydney to Darwin for 12,600 Qantas points (normally 18,000 points) plus $57 in taxes & carrier charges. (There is no discount on the taxes and charges, which still need to be paid in full.)

To view Classic Flight Reward options on the Qantas website, don’t forget to click the “Reward seats” filter at the top of the flight results page!

With this discount applied, Qantas domestic flights even cost fewer points than Jetstar flights.

This discount does not apply to Business Class bookings, including mixed-class bookings that include Economy and Business sectors, nor to international flights or services on airlines other than Qantas or QantasLink.

QantasLink flights to regional destinations, where airfares are normally quite expensive, could be particularly good value when booking with this promotion. For example, you could fly from Sydney to Broken Hill (a route that’s now served 5x weekly) for just 11,200 Qantas points + $56 return.

Qantas flights to Norfolk Island and Lord Howe Island are included in this promotion. For example, you could fly from Brisbane to Norfolk Island for just 16,800 Qantas points + $224 return in Economy when booking between 16 and 22 January 2023.

Qantas Points Club and Points Club Plus members can earn status credits on Classic Flight Reward bookings.

Not only excludes business but also any itineraries with multiple classes, which is interesting:

If your Trip includes multiple cabins, for example, Adelaide to Melbourne in Business and Melbourne to Cairns in Economy, the discount will not apply to your booking.

Translation:

1. We have huge points liability (no spit, sherlock)
2. Bookings for March-June quarter on AU domestic are down in Y and we ramped up capacity

Must sell seats and reduce liability.

Prob be another dom sale on at the end of the month.

The T&Cs state:
The 30% discount on points will be automatically applied to the Qantas Points required for all available and eligible domestic Economy Classic Flight Rewards booked between 11.00am (AEDT) Monday 16 January 2023 and 11.59pm (AEDT) Sunday 22 January 2023, for travel on Qantas between 1 March 2023 and 30 June 2023.To receive the 30% discount on points, all flights in your Trip must be eligible Classic Flight Rewards booked in the same cabin.

However, where you have two flights such as SYD-MEL-CFS, some combinations are showing no discount (where Jetstar is included for one of the flights), others are showing a discount that is considerably less than 30% (the website appears to be pricing each segment individually and adding them together rather than basing the number of points on the total overall distance).

Eligible Classic Flight Rewards are all available Qantas operated Economy Classic Flight Rewards with a ‘QF’ flight number across Australia/the Domestic network (including Norfolk Island).

Business and International is not included.
