Massive release of Malaysia Airlines reward seats to/from Brisbane

Malaysia Airlines Business Class might be the start of a Christmas getaway for frequent flyers, with the airline releasing many reward seats on its Airbus A330neo services between Brisbane and Kuala Lumpur.

A search on the free Qantas Reward Seat Finder tool shows many dates with up to 5 Economy reward seats and 2 Business reward seats per flight in each direction – including peak Christmas 2026 and Easter 2027 dates.

With Qantas Points, Economy rewards are 34,700 points + A$176 per person, while Business Class will set you back a considerable 90,000 points + A$190 per person, each way.

AFF member PointsFly noted that there were previously up to 4 Business Class rewards available per flight on Thursday (21 May) evening, though this now appears to have gone down to two seats.

MH just released huge availability – many 4+ reward seats on flights. Appears to be from October 2026 – May 2027 availability practically every week including Dec and Jan peak holiday period.

The reward seats are available on MH274, a red-eye flight departing Brisbane at 12:15am and arriving in Kuala Lumpur at 6:45am on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. The return flight, MH275, is more pleasantly timed with a 9:00am departure on Mondays, Wednesdays and Sundays. It arrives into Brisbane at 7:10pm that evening.

Onboard Malaysia Airlines’ newest fleet addition, the Airbus A330neo has 28 Business Class suites with lie-flat beds, and 269 Economy seats which we reviewed earlier this year.

You can also book these Business Class reward flights with points or miles of other programs, such as:

  • Cathay: 63,000 Asia Miles + HKD 1059 (A$190)
  • British Airways: 85,000 Avios + A$190

Thought I would give back to this expert community! Hope you're able to book a reward flight.

I've flown business on SQ and CX many times but never MH. Been wanting to try out the business cabin and will finally get to! I know SQ is really hard to beat so will keep my expectations in line but still will be great to try a new experience!

I managed to get 4 J seats ex Syd during Easter... never thought that would happen. Maybe a mistake release.

My only complaint with the hard product is there's no storage space

Service is good, but they don't treat overnight flights as "sleeper services" which means 2 hrs + for meal service.

Flew one a couple of weeks ago and there was plenty of space, it does vary by seat but there are quite a few nooks, including under the armrest. A backpack easily fits under your feet area and won’t impact the seat in lie flat mode.

I think you may find quite the opposite! SQ’s crew probably have the edge, and the drink list is pretty good, but there’s little else that is ‘hard to beat’. Food, seats, amenities… way behind most other top tier airlines these days.

Yeah, I’m one of those that especially out of ADL prefer even the old MH product over SQ’s..
Last couple of flights on SQ the food has been pretty ordinary and MH’s pretty decent. Not a fan of the SQ seating but other TBH
