Hi All,

I notice on teh VA status match T&C that members of *A programs are ineligble. Does this mean that I can't apply? I'm gold QF but also a member of Krisflyer, with no status there.

Thanks!

R

It means they wont match Star programs status!

I don't think it excluded *A programs other than those run by Virgins program partners. It means they won't status match against the specified partners programs. You can use the Qantas gold for a match.

You need to apply using your QF Gold, matched to VA Gold. But if you opted to try with SQ Krisflyer, you'd be rejected.

Thanks guys - that's what I suspected but just wanted to double check!

Cheers

Our travel organizer from work received an email from QBT advising her of the status match promotion, which she then forwarded to all of us within the company who are frequent travelers.
Interesting, considering QBT is owned by Qantas....

(BTW - I've put in for status match - I'm happy to give Virgin a try).

You're in MEL and you haven't told me? You still owe me lunch (Again) after your last comment ;)
Perhaps you need to clean your glasses:confused:, as my comment states: "when I'm in MEL next month" - ah, that would make it September, not now, that I'll be there.

I am typing this from my office in BNE, just finishing a Cascade.

What I meant to write was "You're coming to MEL..."

Either way, lunch at the same place. drop me a line with dates and i'll keep lunch free:)

Looks like I'll have to fly VA's PE Class to MEL then to have lunch with you and score J SC's

I can get some QFF points from lunch :S

I'm a +1 for status match also - not sure how often I'll get to fly DJ, but hey, at least I'll have the chance to check it all out next time I'm around the traps!!

Therein lies the weakest link with this promotion. Loads of QF PS, SG, WP members get their status matched, decide to give DJ a go instead of their regular cityflyer milk runs and are confronted - like I was last week - with the DJ of old. "Good evening ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls" and "no smoking in the toirrrrlettts" and other PA atrocities. Pally joking and frankly irritating giggling and high camp antics (I can say that; I'm gay) among crew as they did their sales run down the aisle. All this on a weeknight flight full of suits who would have really quite liked a drink without having to scratch around for coins to buy one when they've already paid a fare that was comparable to QF.

Sorry DJ, but to see more custom from me, the in-flight experience needs to match the hype of the velocity and airline rebranding....if you can pull it off - (along with *A affiliation :D) - my QF loyalty could start to waiver.

With 15 sectors in the last few weeks I have yet to see the Virgin of old, perhaps the inconsistency of service was to make QFF members feel at home ;) BTW, they did say they prefer card, and the smart suits would have been in PE so need for any coin/card.

Seeing all these QFFers moving across, perhaps it's time to organise a lounge meetup to welcome you all aboard!

So, I was in the BNE VA Lounge tonight casually talking to James from Velocity about the status match.

There were quite a few chairmans lounge members on the clipboard list.... interesting times ahead....

We have Cascade and Hahn Light in the office fridge. One of my business partners got me a Cascade this afternoon at drinks time. Then I was able to read AFF relaxing...

Next time I buy beer for the fridge, I'll see what I feel like. I do like Boags.

What beers do they supply in The Lounge? A question I didn't ask or research on Wed night.

In the SYD lounge tonight I asked how many Platinums they have matched. At around 4pm they had around 20. Lower than I thought. The kind gent said there were lots more online.

When I asked how long it would go for he said until management decided there were enough. So I guess they have a figure in mind and once that is reached they will cut it off. Better get in now guys!!

And Lindsay, if you're going to be one of us you'd better change your avatar! ;)
