Hey, Markis10: thanks heaps for the post... the AFF forum neatly told me that this thread was active again. My last attempt at DJ matching was met with a "no, sorry, we don't do that any more" which seemed to bit short-sighted in terms of getting FFs to come across.

But hey, if it works this time I'll have 12 months to test it. Just got back this morning on a set of flights with Delta, and their lounges aren't bad. Access via a partner card would certainly help!

Easily fixed, once the changes mooted above are done. You'll come across - you followed me last time...

It certainly worked for me last time!
But I didn't follow you back to QF.
However if they did fly into DPO then certainly worth thinking about as I hopefully could fly right through on DJ.

But seriously folks I am one of the few who sees little in it for me.
1/Happy with Aawards.Especially now as LTP.
2/DJs flights out of and into MCY are not when i want to fly.
3/I am already HH gold for the next 20 years.Haven't noticed that much change dropping from diamond.
4/Need to have something as good as SYDs Flounge.
5/already hertz gold 1.
6/Also dont like Europcar.

Mrsdrron might status match though as she is WP and does fly domestically a little more than me.

I never left QF for long, as my goal was to get AA Plat on our trip to USA in 2005 and 2005; but then back to QF for flights and AA for CC spend, Hertz, Double Dipping.

Have to agree that some of the side benefits don't help me either - I am also HH Gold, Hertz No 1 Gold and don't like Europcar. Maybe mrsdrron can get a status match and guest you into The Lounge. I'm going to consider The Lounge visits for QF flights out of Gate 22 to 26 (BNE)

Have a look how much Hertz rentals you need to do to redeem a PE BNE-SYD redemption using points + pay with DJ , keeping in mind:

I think its around $1400 of Hertz hire and $50 co pay!

A couple of advantages with DJ:

1. Their classic awards points + pay redemptions are good value and bookable in less than 24 hours, for instance if I needed to get to PER ex SYD as soon as possible:

Now work out how much that would cost in Hertz rentals at 5 points per $ spent!

Popped into the SYD Lounge tonight. Mission accomplished - double Plat. Thanks Virgin Australia and Velocity. Very happy with the new expiry date as well.

It will close sooner rather than later was the official response, rather than there being a concrete date.

Gee, you're right Velocity Frequent Flyer, I might need a new avatar. I like the image notzac, perfect and funny...but I thought hell was exothermic (reminding me of that joke)!

drron, perfect reason now that you are LTP with AA. Come join me on the DJ planes like you did with getting AA LT status....do they fly to DPO? BNE/MEL/DPO returns will get you re-qualified DJ Gold in no time.
