Velocity Frequent Flyer Status Match Promotion - Closed 30 Sep 11

So, I was in the BNE VA Lounge tonight casually talking to James from Velocity about the status match.

There were quite a few chairmans lounge members on the clipboard list.... interesting times ahead....

As Annette told me yesterday, looks like they have got quite a number of them. Now to find them in The Lounge and network

In the SYD lounge tonight I asked how many Platinums they have matched. At around 4pm they had around 20. Lower than I thought. The kind gent said there were lots more online.

Not unsurprising, given the Plats have to walk to the VA Terminal and then back to their QF flight - most of them are time poor.

When I asked how long it would go for he said until management decided there were enough. So I guess they have a figure in mind and once that is reached they will cut it off. Better get in now guys!!

I am researching an independent avatar, one that neither side can have issue.

As yet, I am only a humble Red, so no issue yet...I have up to another 3.5 weeks before I get my card & status.

Hmmm, that also sounds suspiciously like the lounge bar I photographed at Hilton Cairns.

No white drapes in the lounge bar @ Cairns Hilton that I can remember (but the Thai restaurant has great food and the buffet breakie is pretty good too )

Seriously, we need to see you and the other QFFers in the Lounge one of these days. I just convinced my Chairman to do a status match today, now I need to convince him to start flying VA!

I know that Velocity are not saying how long they will be status matching but can anyone tell me how long it was on offer previously? I am a QF silver but should be gold in about three weeks time....would prefer to status match on gold rather than waste it on silver.....

Interesting question. I suspect it will be based on numbers not time. Media advertising has started. Imho I would be surprised if it lasted another week. But I have no idea. Sorry.

It's "capped and for a limited time", so it sounds like a whatever comes first type deal. Anyway, I sent my email off today, and got the acknowledgement. Now to wait for my membership to get updated (I'm sure I'm way down the Q for that so may be a while!)

Well, what you could do, if you send an email in is note in the email that you expect to get it by date xyz. With a bit of luck they might read it and consult with you, especially if it takes them a few weeks to get through the backlog.

What repaint the 3 tails of the Connie? Ok but one in VR livery, one in QF livery and one in EK livery. I mean these are my toes in the F shower of a EK 388 at 40,000 feet. Gotta share the love around.

We would love to try to the status match by Velocity. However, we would like some advice here - I am currently Silver with QF, and will do a status run in a few weeks on Qantas which should get me Gold, and hubby is currently Gold with QF, and he will do a status run in early October which should get him Plat. We know the status match offer is time limited, and no one knows when it will end. The dilemma for us is: should we apply now at our current status levels? Or, should we wait for another month (after getting our Gold and Plat) so we get a better status match from Velocity? Should we ask VA for this? Thanks for any view!

In all honesty I doubt it will last a month due to there being a predetermined "cap" on how many people VA is willing to match

I think your best bet is to match now

Hey be kind. Those toes were at 40,000 feet and drinking French Champagne in the F shower on a EK 388. How with the VA WP status match, it may be the last time those toes see water at 40,000 feet.
