I'm flying from Perth in a few days on Qantas - if I get there a bit early and pop over to the Virgin terminal would I be able to get a status match there and then at 'The Lounge'? Or is that only in MEL/SYD? I'm keen to give the coast-to-coast service a good go!

I did the status match in the BNE Lounge on Friday night. It only took around 5 minutes to complete. I took a quick look at the clipboards and there did not appear to be many names listed which does not really mean anything and they may have started a new running

so I sent my status match request by email as it was announced, however looks like I am now travelling tomorrow on VA. Does anybody think they'll be any issues requesting the match instantly in the lounge? Seems a waste for me to wait up to 4 weeks to get email processed when i have a lot of short term travel upcoming. Just don't know if they will be able to now i have already sent the email. Anybody done it?

The match in the lounge just gives you lounge benefits, the system will not be updated to reflect your status for a few weeks apparently (at the latest)!

If I've got it right the Temporary gold card would give access to priority boarding and security lines in BNE and the premium entry in SYD immediately? So would be my only reason to want to get a 'card' sooner than later.

They dont look at the card on boarding, as its all on the BP, so go for it, you will not have a problem.

I suggest your print out your email and credentials and use that for identification. Once you explain you've status matched through email, I doubt you'll have issues.

Let us know how it goes.

My partner had emailed the status match request off on Thursday, but then dropped a friend at the airport Friday night and still got a match to Platinum on the spot. All whilst using ATA on existing Gold membership! The system still hasn't updated though, so the benefits don't really kick in properly yet. The card indicates to use it for priority queues, lounge etc.

Meanwhile I have to do it the hard way and wait for my PE flight tomorrow night to qualify! I did ask at the Sydney lounge on Friday so I could earn a few extra points for the next couple of flights, but they said that my flight tomorrow is likely to update the system before a status match would.

ISTR a post that indicated that it may be East coast only.

However, I think may be able to check-out the lounge (and if I am incorrect, register) via this promotion (expires end of August):

[EDIT]
Looking close, that may be for MEL, SYD & BNE only - it still may not hurt to try.

And I too got my DJ CP (Virgin Blue Complimentary Platinum) today at MEL. Took a couple of minutes and all done.

Hope to fly them soon and see what all the fuss is about.

Hi Anthony, you'll be able to request for a status match at the Virgin Australia lounge in PER.

We've only stationed Velocity team members at MEL, SYD, BNE and Westfield (and CBR for the first 2 days) but status matches can be requested at any Virgin Australia lounge.

You're welcome to ask for a temporary card at the lounge which will allow you to enjoy the benefits of your upgraded status on domestic services. As advised, you may want to print a copy of your email confirmation and inform staff at the lounge that you've already lodged your status match claim online so that we do not duplicate your claim and potentially cause a delay in processing.

Happy chappie :D

Just visited the Mel VA lounge, must have missed you Keith.

Wow, agents stationed at the airports to help with the status match... looks like I missed the boat with that one in CBR. Never mind, I put in my email request last Thursday so will wait and see.
Bits and pieces I've read through here (not all so sorry if I've missed it), but sounds like people have been matched already. Were they all from face-to-face applications or any email ones through yet? Also was wondering if anyone who had been matched could comment on the length of membership? T & C to me seemed like it would be a year for everyone straight out. It's just that I realised after submitting my form that I had one gold card expiring in Dec I asked them to match, but didn't do my Flying Blue due start of 2013! Hope it won't mean I get a shorter length match?
Cheers...

Mel VA lounge wireless internet is excellent. Fast log-in and good speed. Very happy. No more tethering to the BB. :D

But no sandwich toaster. Misha and the other VA AFFers must have burnt it out. Fair go guys, give the newbie VA WP a chance to enjoy a toastie. Coffee is much better than the QF J recycled dish water, black coloured, stuff.

The toaster was there on Saturday, and I promise it wasn't me that burnt it out!

Wonder what VA have in planning for the new chipped VA FFer cards which also have a unique barcode on the back side? Something like Air New Zealand?
