Feels Like Home

I'll have to reserve judgement as all I can see is "This video is not available in your country."
Rather seems to defeat the purpose.

Ditto here.

I already know Qantas does not care about elite flyers who are overseas, so have adjusted my loyalty accordingly.

Whilst understanding the point of the advert to show the life affirming emotion of coming home on QF, if you are lucky enough to have a loving someone at the airport to pick you up that is. I felt that the overseas travellers looked like a pretty jaded or grumpy lot and weren't exactly enjoying the whole point of get on QF in the first place - to have a holiday or earn money.

Maybe I'm over thinking it.

That makes two of us Matt. My Emirates (Y and J) experience was average at best, but everyone else seems to think Emirates service is the bees knees.
Well ... when I compare them on the hard and soft product against that of Qantas', EK generally is far better ...

Bit o/t sorry ... but would anyone like to opine why they think broadcast would be subject to 'licencing restrictions' (and therefore not available to most countries outside Australia)? Doesn't appear to be anything generally 'licensable' in the vision - except maybe the 'artiste' or company that produced the video wanted more money if it was broadcast more widely. Thinking more... maybe its the music rights holder?

Anyway, anyone not able to see it, try Hola and use Chrome.

Definitely aiming to be a sentimental video. IMO the clip felt way too depressing sadly and without the written information, the clip became almost useless and loss in translation. Did it sway or encourage me to fly Qantas (more)? Nope :(

Compare this to Emirates "Hello Tomorrow" advertisements which is positive, which makes you want to go, show-casing the world, evoking emotions of wanting to go further and explore.

Hi, first time poster here. That campaign is a really interesting contrast to the Qantas ad. Australians are known throughout the world as travellers - interesting that Qantas chose not to portray itself as sharing - or even making possible - that exciting outward-bound journey.

Was having drinks with 6 travellers late yesterday, mainly ladies, all had seen the advert, none said it would change their view, rather have more Q routes and be more competitive.

I like it, and is the truth for many of us, it does feel different to get inside a QF flight back home, it's almost like you are halfway there.

My only gripe is this feeling is mared by the though "sigh, I have to spend an hour in hideous DBX, wish I coul stay in the plane instead"

I would rather fly QF than any other metal I have been to, and that does include some of the best, the crew has always been great to me on international flights, far more genuine than EK or Etihad can ever be.

I would think it's because of licensing restrictions on the song.

Re: 'FEELS LIKE HOME' new QF ads- how effective

I was a bit down to QF in a previous post so I thought I'd share my experience in more positive light.

I can relate to the whole 'home' thing. A few months ago I visited the Middle East and most things seemed to go wrong (Gaza war started, MH17 shot down literally 3hrs before we flew out of Tel Aviv, had an emergency landing in an El Al 747, rental car was rear-ended by a truck - but otherwise is was a fascinating trip btw). We flew with El Al to Hong Kong and then QF128 back to SYD and I must admit seeing the big red-tailed A380 was a great relief. The first time my heart rate dropped to normal levels in 3 weeks.
Here's the view that met me at Hong Kong:

Hmm. We were overseas too when MH was shot down but the route offered to us in Adelaide with Qantas was Emirates. So the message doesn't really work for me.

Emirates was excellent but it did fly straight over Baghdad.

How about I still call Australia home?/!
Now that would make me think about flying qantas again.
Oh, and I don't like (like how only a toddler can scream out loud), I don't like many many times over and over again. With regard to the Coming home ad.

I like the advertisement.
Qantas is with you on your journey home wherever that may be.

Yes my reaction exactly. The advert has the 'feel good' aspect QF are after and it is well constructed, but it does not make me want to rush out and book to fly QF. Nor does it give me a warm and fuzzy feeling about QF, but perhaps for non frequent flyers it will stick as the "national carrier". The Telstra ad from several years ago used a similar tear jerking series with family members waiting for calls from other family members who were overseas. It at least reminded the viewer they had family who would appreciate a call.

I too was reminded of the Telstra ad (or was it still Telecom back then) from years ago....

As a current expat, I actually loved this ad, and found it very emotive - but realistically this has everything to do with the fact that I'm moving back to Australia next month after not having been home since I left in 2007, (so anything and everything from home tugs the heart-strings right now) and little to do with the ad in a broader context.

While it did make me glad I'm flying QF home, I'm not sure that the ad would make me want to rush out and buy a QF ticket departing Australia, and in the long run I think this ad is only going to appeal to a smaller segment of the wider market.

I like the ad, I am sure the tear in my eye was from hayfever ;) It did tug at my heart strings and reminded me of the times I have been boarding the plane to come home. It makes you feel like you are already half way there.

I notice that Qantas planes don't feature too strongly in this ad, I am a red tail fan so I may be biased here but I think I would like to see more red tails.

Overall I like the ad and I am interested to see how it takes off (pardon the pun).

Absolutely wonderful ad Red Roo. Many times in the past I have genuinely had this feeling when boarding a QF plane to head home and hearing those Aussie accents.

Unfortunately by the time I got to the end of the ad I actually started to feel quite angry as Qantas do not provide ANY flights for me back to Perth from anywhere o/seas.

My last international trip saw me sitting in J on SIA looking out the window at the QF A330 taking people back to the East Coast.

This ad makes me feel like Qantas is teasing me and then rubbing it in.

Very sad. I wish you would return to Perth.

This is still my favourite Qantas ad... one of the originals!
