Had to laugh. They've just shown the full ad on the cricket. With the comment that when you get onboard it's great to hear the Aussie accent. Hmm.

I think it will appeal mostly to rusted on QF customers. Most will just get BFODFCA. = BFOD from cheapest airline. Aussies are generally pragmatic travellers so sentimentality is remembered but forgotten in a moment. That's why Bali and other OS are better travel destinations than domestic destinations. Toyotas sell more cars than Holden/Ford. And price sensitivity is dominant

Just showed the montage of ads to Mr Katie, who spent 4yrs living in the US.

From his perspective, QF have nailed it. As an Aussie working OS, on each trip home, he would never know when his next trip home would be, or when he would move home again. He was probably most like the woman in London; the eagerness, the antipation, but tinged with knowing he would only be home for a week or two, and what he would miss out on while he was back at work so far away. Luckily for him, no major deaths, and he made a quick trip home for the main family wedding that occurred during those pre-Skype years.

Domestic tourism is never as popular as OS tourism. But I have added OS to the Bali bit just then to my OP

Sorry Coco: "Second best things in life are discounted online stuff from OS"

I guess each to their own... but I would prefer a jaunt to Bali where i can get great hotels with good value for money, different cuisine, and duty free, rather than a domestic flight.

You still buy DF ? MEL Traveller? May I ask what you usually get DF? - liquor, parfumerie?. I saw a pearl necklace DF at Sydney airport T1 departures for over $250000. Blinked but unfortunately the price did not change.

Would have been at least 375000 points but the value proposition was not there. I was in the good books at that time and did not have to make up for anything.

On this last trip I was astounded to find that a litre of Amarula was cheaper in a liquor store in Sendai, japan than in Sydney Duty Free.

It may be that Qantas is not allowed to advertise in certain countries.
ISOchronous - where is this geoblocked?

A number of countries have been named up thread. Here in Canada for one.

Red Roo says its for 'licensing' reasons. As there is nothing particular in the vision, I speculate that by restricting the geographic distribution, Qantas limits the cost of licensing the music.
