Damn, I was so happy to see this promo so I booked flight starlight away but forgot to register for the offer!
I did register straight after the booking...
Do you think is ok if booking and registration done the same day?
So I just called QF and they confirmed that it doesn't actually matter if you book your flight fist and than follow promo registration link or other way around as soon as booking and registration falls within promotion week.

I note the T&Cs say you must book a flight that has a Qantas flight number and is Qantas operated. Does that mean, for us Adelaideans, that QF-ticketed flights operated by Emirates out of Adelaide aren't eligible? Qantas has no international flights out of Adelaide.

Correct. Sucks hey? Have to do a creative routing through other cities.

QFF gets bagged a lot but they do get it right too. I’m LFS currently Gold FF and with a RTW award trip already part booked for next year, would sell a kidney to make sure I am still Gold in October next year. I had been putting off making a series of bookings for the next couple of months hoping there may be another DSC promo, but caved in yesterday afternoon to make a BNE-MEL-BNE booking for later this month. Then 10 mins ago I see the email from AFF, B*******er. However nothing ventured, nothing gained so I rang QFF straightaway to see if they could/would please include yesterday’s booking and get “yes sir let me look, I can see the booking, yep, done, no trouble is there anything else I can help you with today Sir”? I wish I could remember her name but QANTAS if you do read this, give the girl a raise. And yes I made sure I stayed online to do the satisfaction survey. Kudos
dr FM booked a trip to Japan the day before the last offer came out and a trip to Perth the day before this one. I told her about your experience, but I don’t think she had enough time to try it. The problem is someone else could be a lot less cooperative and she doesn’t have time to hang up and try again. :).

The restriction to QF operated flights is understandable but frustrating. I’m enjoying my EK and SQ experiences too much right now that a DSC QF offer is not enough to make me switch back to QF.

Yeah, but think of the extra status credits you earn (for usually no extra cost) by backtracking via SYD/MEL! ;)

Agreed. We started and will finish our recent Shanghai trip from ADL and we're based in BNE ... 240SC and a couple of long weekends in ADL thrown in for bugger all :)

I cancelled the flight after I was told that if I changed the date of departure and return, I would lose the 50% SC bonus, despite remaining within the targeted period. I had to changer the date so the bonus was going to be lost. I found a far cheaper return flight with another One World carrier even with the $400 penalty charged by QANTAS.

I would not have cancelled the flight if I could have changed the dates without losing the bonus.

Harsh. Even regulars get flummoxed with the T&C’s of these offers.

I reckon QFF run these DSC promos just as some in-house amusement at everyone trying to work out what the T's&C's actually mean!

We all need to book VA so we can tune into the in-flight meditation channel to cope with the QFF induced stress in our lives! :D

Hey Casanovawa
What's the point of sledging members of AFF to ingratiate your feeling of self worth? Big deal that I have posted only 4 times and you have posted 2843 times.
I do not care if you want to big note yourself but leave me off your list. Your advice is not worth reading.

There has been a response to my query regarding the impact of changing the dates of a flight, albeit indirectly.

The condition in the email on October 11 read: 'If you change or cancel your initial qualifying booking and/or travel is completed outside the promotional period, this bonus offer will not apply.

The condition on the QANTAS website now reads: If you cancel your initial qualifying booking or change it to be outside of the eligible travel period this bonus offer will not apply.

Clearly, QANTAS has accepted the ambiguity of the wording of the original condition.

See Casanovawa, even a slack poster like myself, can achieve some change in the frequent flyer world!!!

I am currently Gold.

currently have 100 SC in the bank.

Business from Adel to NY return gets me 670x2 = 1340

1340 + 100 i already have = 1440

So id attain Platinum status from that one return trip?

Still hoping to get an answer from the more knowledgeable folks in this forum before the deadline: If I book with American Express using the $450 Qantas travel credit on my Qantas Amex Ultimate Card will I receive the double status credits? Or do the flights have to be booked with Qantas directly?

It's been about 20 years since I booked flights with an agent rather than going directly with the airline, so really have no idea.
