Oh Qantas how you love to tease the masses.

May just buy 3-4 vouchers for good luck. ;)

There is a current sale to Jakarta at the moment. Business PER-xSYD-CGK return earns 400/800 SCs and 37k FF points for $2600 which is a super good return. Sample dates 27 November to 1 December. I don't think there's a minimum stay period and I think the sale ends on 16 October. Note that if you're prepared to take the 737 on the transcon, the flights book into J, adding 15/30 SCs each way.

Uggh. Now have to trudge through the status run thread. Ex ADL ideas with minimum nights away? ;)

Oh, I thought as long as you have a QF number, you will earn status credit???
Must be QF flight number on QF metal. From the T&Cs (probably worth a read) - "Status Credits will not be earned on some fare types and booking classes including Classic Flight Rewards and any flight with a QF flight number on the ticket which is not operated by Qantas including Jetstar, Jetstar Asia, Valuair, Jetstar Japan, Jetstar Pacific and other partner airlines except are not eligible for this offer."

No - look at the offer T&C's (particularly the bolded words):

An Eligible Flight for the purpose of this promotion means any Domestic or International Qantas operated with a QF flight number on your ticket where Status Credits are normally earned.

Status Credits will not be earned on some fare types and booking classes including Classic Flight Rewards and any flight with a QF flight number on the ticket which is not operated by Qantas

where an Eligible Flight is defined by the Qantas FF T&C's:

9.3.2 For the purposes of earning Points, Status Credits and the Minimum Points Guarantee, Eligible Flights exclude Codeshare Flights where the Operating Carrier is Qantas, a oneworld Alliance Airline or an Airline Partner aircraft, and where another airline's flight number is entered on the ticket, unless that flight has been specified by Qantas Loyalty as an Eligible Flight. It is the responsibility of the Member to check whether a proposed booking is eligible to earn Points, Status Credits or the Minimum Points Guarantee and if so how many Points or Status Credits will be earned.

Thanks QF WP, how does one do this, "unless that flight has been specified by Qantas Loyalty as an Eligible Flight"?
By phone / on line chat?

To clarify while the QF/EK codeshare will NORMALLY earn points and SC's they will not earn double under this promo/

Yes, as I suspected. Wish they'd have some consistency, but that's just a fancy.

er while I coined the phrase "QANTAS - Consistently Inconsistent"(tm) I fail to see what your issue here is.

They are being VERY consistent(for once lol) in saying this promo ONLY applies to QF operated and marketed flights (ie: QF metal with a QF flight number).

Heck in some prior promos they had odds and ends of codeshares allowed (one time it was some AA transpacific flights, others it was EK trans-tasman etc) and that confused more people.

I consider this to be pretty consistent in terms of application: if it has a red tail with an armless white roo on it - it earns. Simples.

Codeshares can confuse people absolutely and I understand the idea that if it has a QF flight number it should apply... but they have not allowed THAT for bonus SC offers for years.

Sorry you don't like it (and frankly I'd wish it could apply to EK flights myself, for example) but that's the way it is.

Wow. Given you travel VA a lot that’s a great feat.
VA Gold already in the bag for next year and I have an offer to accept upgrade to Platinum from a generous friend who is doing some crazy amount of flying this year.

I’m your friend. Only your true friends will tell you the truth

True that!

QFF gets bagged a lot but they do get it right too. I’m LFS currently Gold FF and with a RTW award trip already part booked for next year, would sell a kidney to make sure I am still Gold in October next year. I had been putting off making a series of bookings for the next couple of months hoping there may be another DSC promo, but caved in yesterday afternoon to make a BNE-MEL-BNE booking for later this month. Then 10 mins ago I see the email from AFF, B*******er. However nothing ventured, nothing gained so I rang QFF straightaway to see if they could/would please include yesterday’s booking and get “yes sir let me look, I can see the booking, yep, done, no trouble is there anything else I can help you with today Sir”? I wish I could remember her name but QANTAS if you do read this, give the girl a raise. And yes I made sure I stayed online to do the satisfaction survey. Kudos

Sounds good. ... as long as you have an email confirmation as evidence.
