To be considered for a status match, please email the following to [email protected]:

1. In the subject line, include the status you are seeking to be matched to (e.g. Gold)
2. Your Velocity membership number. If you are not a Velocity member, join now using ‘STATUSMATCH’ as the promotional code
3. A copy of your most recent frequent flyer monthly statement or a scanned copy of your current frequent flyer card. Your statement or card must clearly show the date of validity and your current status level

What happens next?

Please allow 4 weeks for processing after receipt of your request. If your request is approved, confirmation will be sent to you by email^ and you will receive a Velocity membership pack containing your new card in the mail.

Okay, I've weakened and finally joined Velocity AND asked for a Status match . I'm only 70 SC's short of re-qual Gold on QF, so time to flick some travel to DJ and see if I can re-qual there as well. This'll slow down my run to QF LTG

Gee, who wants to show me how to drive the DJ website and explain the benefits of Gold (over a beer will be better than online here), so I don't look like a complete dork when booking/checking in and accessing The Lounge? (I can hear the thunder of feet already lining up )

What is the world coming to? Who'd have ever thought - me flying DJ and a card carrying Velocity member :shock:

I'm with you on this one. I was hoping that elite bonuses or at least EQP count would be taken into consideration with the new million miler rules. So the new challenge of Velocity looks good, though there is no lifetime benefit being offered nor is the redemption much chop compared with AAdv.

I think you'll find most VA status people probably have QF as well..

Lifetime benefit is a real concern, especially since lifetime status on *A can be had for 500k BIS on Asiana (Lifetime D+ (*G) for 500K - FlyerTalk Forums).

Also, redemption burn is much better on AAdvantage, especially when you consider that both airlines will let you redeem on Etihad. Try doing a comparison BNE-SIN as an AAdvantage award versus a Velocity Frequent Flyer Award.

I have requested the match as well. I will see how the next 12 months travel plans pan out to work out my best approach for the future.

It is a shame I have 12 flights on QF in September and already requalified for WP (well at 2220 SCs) with a 30 Sep anniversary but too late to rebook all the flights (as I am not yet WP on VA).
