Vinomofo Wine Deals

At this moment just crack open bottle 0936/1800.
Dark crimson red. Very nice aroma.
Smooth tannin, very easy drinking. Compared to Allegiance Artisan Shiraz($20) which I am currently drinking, the Billich is much much better.

I don't have a tasting note but I also bought this one and cracked a bottle when it came; I remember being quite happy with the purchase but it got put in my 'to be left for another couple of years' storage.

For those who are interested in the Maverick Billich Red, it was $18.5 last week, $17.5 yesterday and $16.5 NOW and free shipping today!
Is this a first for Vinomofo? I have not encountered any price reduction before except free shipment.
Can you get VM to refund the difference. I know some websites that advertise of refunding if prices are lowered elsewhere.
In your case it's not even delivered. Just cancelled/return and order at current price. :D

As an aside, I should consider returning the remaining 5 bottles of Maverick Billich The Red not because I don't like it but due to it's availability at a lower price. :D

I got a call from my broker who was talking about the allegiance and the billich. I can't justify the bullish when I scored the 2013gsm for the price of 5 seven eleven coffees.

Just had my broker on. They now have (via brokers only at the mo), the Maverick Twins 2015 GSM and cab blends. Wozza, I know from your Vivino contributions you're a fan of the GSM earlier vintages.

I can confirm that the 2015 Maverick Twins Cabernet is available via phone order. However, my broker told me that there was a mix up with the original inventory details and apparently the 2015 is a straight cabernet, not a blend. I didn't even know that Maverick produced a straight twins cabernet. I suspect there may be a mixup somewhere. I have ordered regardless and the order says it is a straight cabernet. It will be interesting to see what actually turns up.

How does Black Chook relate? Parson is a member of the clergy haha
Oops, you might be right. Was served a Chapel Hill The Parson Shiraz on the weekend, so had it in my head.

Parson = Tui bird (NZ), but Black Chook would be far more obvious, and probably more widely tasted!

'Best known wines in the country!??' Never seen or heard of that wine in my life....

I noticed the Maverick Twins Shiraz is on offer today. Loved the GSM and cab blends that have been on previously and have probably been my best dollar for dollar purchases on VM but had no experience with the straight shiraz. Anyone tried it?

My Twins Shiraz arrived yesterday and I decided to crack a bottle tonight, as I've been road testing a few shiraz's this week. Here are my tasting notes:

Still a very young wine with the dark fruit taking centre stage, as you would expect at this stage of its development, but still very composed for its age. Deep crimson in colour, the dark plum, blackberry and black-raspberry fruit are rich, vibrant and intense, the quality of the vintage obvious. Unsurprisingly the secondary characteristics are largely undeveloped, but sit in the darker end of the spectrum, think tar, tobacco leaf and cured meats. The balance is good and the tannins are soft but barely perceptible. I like it a lot. Bloody delicious actually. A 92 on CT from me.

I can’t wait to see how this wine develops. Time to order another case while free shipping is on offer!

By way of comparison, I have tasted this back-to-back against the Amelia Park reserve shiraz (2012) the Hewitson Mad Hatter shiraz this week. For me the twins is slightly better than the mad hatter and sitting just under the Amelia Park. But I wouldn't be surprised if it surpassed it in another 2-3 years as its complexity develops. Time will tell. Exceptional value.

I thought Amelia reserve was only up to 2012. New vintage?

Fantastic, my Maverick Twins arrived today too. Gonna crack one open later. Incidentally, my broker also sold me the cab blend, it said cab blend on the order confirmation but the delivery note said cab sav. When it's arrived low and behold it's cab sav. Anyone tried it, I'm tempted to send it back, minus a bottle of course.

Sometimes blends can be done if the winemaker thinks it lacks in a certain area, and creating a blend will add to the wine. Never know, but maybe they decided this cab vintage has the goods to stand on its own. Pure speculation, but only one way to find out...
