Vinomofo Wine Deals

Re: Vinomofo secret wine deals

Having read through previous posts I've seen that Vinomofo have read messages and responded to posts. So advertising that you have problems with there delivery method would appear to be smart. If others have the same problem then I suggest they do the same thing. Well done Rocket09. I've also just done the same. The more Vinomofo hears about this the more likely they'll do something.

Something must be getting through to Vinomofo. I had a call today apologising for recent delays in postage.

So how many of you fine, wine loving people have tried the highly anticipated 2013 Glenlofty shiraz? Would love to hear opinions!

Has anyone tried the Muscat ?

If you mean this one:

Lou Miranda Estate Lion's Mark Aged Muscat NV

then the answer is yes. Got a case in Nov 2014. It's fine.
Not spectacular. Claims it cellars for 30 years (doubtful of that for an NV). I must admit I've used many for gifts. Thought the Haselgrove 'The Old Nut' Fortified was better value.

Bit oaky straight after opening. High alcohol as evidenced by the legs on the glass. Deep purple hue, good fruit with finely integrated tannins nicely balanced. Improved greatly after short time in glass. Bottle was dispatched forthwith! Great quaffer now and would likely reward with 5-10 years of cellaring.

So requires a decent decant before drinking, similar to the '12. Thanks for your comments Sedimental

Bought a dozen, tried one, bought a second dozen. Very good wine at the price point. Nice fruit driven style, not to rich, balanced, no obvious faults.

BettyB, the good doctor has been on this wagon for a while. Why do you think they listened to you this time? They should be sending a Christmas bm pack his way.....surely vm !

remember the other gsm we were waxing lyrically about a long time ago.....the maverick twins and their range of biodiverse wines. They were very good as well. But somewhat forgotten.

Just a note on today VIM offer.

The 2012 Parous is from Barossa not McLaren Vale like the 2010.

I tasted it at a wine show earlier this year and didnt enjoy it as much, still quite good though. I am a big fan of McLaren Vale Shiraz so take that as you will.

If someone in Syd is thinking of getting some I would love to buy a bottle off them so I can judge it better.

Cor blimey, guv'nor...!

Just taking my first sniffs and sips of the Parous 12. It's SO ALCOHOLIC that it's warming my oesophagus and now my tummy (like a wee dram does, when in Scotland)! I am now off to check out what this wine is all about. As the label is full of rubbish that tells you nothing of the wine itself (a notable Halliday pet-hate):

[The scribble is back, as I burn the Midnight oil on work at home...!]

I'll report back on the Nice Wines Thread when I have given this a chance to open up and show its true colours. But it's clearly a Katy Special!

You sure it's not the 30+ degree heat that's causing the warming feeling? I'm drinking a different VM - a chilled Brokenwood Oakey Creek Semillon - far more suitable to the prevailing weather conditions IMHO :)

Probably, AC! I am also a bit work delirious, as well as sweltering. Position reserved, mind still open ...

Took a bottle of the 2013 Maverick Twins GSM to an Indian restaurant last week and introduced it to friends. That is a delicious wine and was exceptional value at $99 for the dozen. Would grab another case if it ever reappeared on VM. I'm also a fan of the 2012 Schild Estate GMS. It's somewhat lighter (and was even cheaper at $90). I'd grab that if VM offered it again.

I also took 2 bottles of Maverick Twins GSM (my last bottles, sad) and two bottles of Fox Gordon Eight Uncles to a gathering of 20+ friends last Sunday, all agreed that both are excellent wines but opinion split on which is the better one.

Of course they are very surprised for the cost of these wines!

Hi Director, My children are not going to like you this Christmas as they will have $59.70 less spent on them ......great tip, thank you. I have to say that Fox Gordon have been a revelation for me in my journey through wine enjoyment. Firstly, the quality on offer, secondly the many varietals on offer, thirdly a female winemaker, fourthly the incredible value for their wines. How could you go wrong with pedigree like this? You simply cannot.

Tried one, and promptly purchased another box to be stored away.

The Mt Avoca BackBlock is rather nice as well however the Glenlofty is my pick of the two.

Re: Vinomofo secret wine deals

Fox Gordon Tempranillo 2013 - a recent $9.90 VM purchase. For something a little different, who better that a product from the gals. I am reading from the back label and making an odd comment, but suffice to say, this is very good.

It says it's made in the Spanish style of long and slow maturation - hands up if you knew that- and has spent 18 months in oak. Well that oak must be 100 used French as the timber does not detract from the fruit one iota in this beauty. It says aromas of red fruit - I certainly get great cherry aromas, and since we have been buying a few from Woolworths recently, my olfactory senses are very primed. Aromas of cashew and nougat - hmm, does it really matter, I can't get any of those. It smells good, and that's what matters.

Onto the prose about palate - red fruits, bright and full with a hint of marzipan. I reckon it is beautifully weighted at a medium -medium, and leaves a nice long lasting flavour. Tannins, ever so slightly with a small lip smacking ending, but that ending has you wanting more. The wine is not too sweet, less so than one of those barossan fruities.

Having not had too many Tempys in my day, the last being a Brandy Creek version of it at least 7 years ago, this is simply beautiful. Easy to drink, showing finesse with a bit of complexity, you get the odd taste of chocolate but what I really like about this wine is the experience. plus I have 11 more.

When you have a stab at a much less known variant to vary your taste enjoyment, you get such an immense sense of gratitude when the damn thing delivers. There is such a high level of expectation going in that you wonder whether the new wine will reach it. For Pete's sake, it costs a tenner, money back guaranteed as well, yet it still excites. Tantalising the senses evoking flavours that are not so common is part of this journey we share. That's what this wine game is all about isn't it.....this wine is very good, and over the course of a couple of hours, just gets better and better. Pedigree got me here with this Fox Gordon. Buen Beber !
