QFF Platinum requesting release of extra Classic Reward seats?

Just had QF63 SYD-JNB F released for 30 Nov, ExpertFlyer was showing A8 on that route. This was for a ticket initially booked as a CR in J.

Tried for the return leg QF64 JNB-SYD on 12 Dec, ExpertFlyer shows A9, but rejected. Again this was for a CR seat in J. Asked for a review but was told that I could not request a manual review as this is only for P1?

Anyway, pretty happy to have scored the outbound flight at least!
Thanks for the data point. If you don't mind me asking, were the original flights in J booked through a Platinum release as well? How early did you make that booking/request?

I'm eyeing 2x seats in J/F for next year Oct/Nov, but don't know how lucky I'll be with the Cricket World Cup on at the same time .....

If I recall correctly original was just a CR and I booked back in April. I remember wanting slightly different dates but they weren’t available so that’s what I went with. A subsequent time change to the booked flight though meant I could request a different flight - did that back in August. I don’t recall F seats being available when I checked initially back in April either.

Now the wait to see if a revenue J fare on same flight also gets an F upgrade 🤞🏻🤞🏻

An interesting change to my booking is the May 2027 LAX-SYD-BNE flight (I was unable to get a direct flight released).
I was booked on QF 510 SYD-BNE dep 0835 with a good 2-hour gap after the arrival from the US.
Yesterday I received a QF email saying that I was now on a 0955 departure, adding 80 minutes to my wait in SYD. No disaster but...
I looked closer at the available flights on that morning – no morning biz awards available apart from the 0600 hrs departure.
Interestingly, I likely discovered the reason for the flight change.
The flight QF 510 was changed from the 0835 to the 0955 departure, so the computer just changed me rather than keeping me on the earlier departure!
I rang QFF – tried again to get direct LAX-BNE released. NO!
After an hour, the agent was able to do a platinum release for me at the original flight timing.
