Vaccine Rollout in Australia - personal accounts.

Everyone else in my household has had both doses already. I would have too had I been eligible when they were.

I'm in VIC where there's little COVID-19 atm. Where there's little COVID-19 there's not really much point bringing forward the second dose if the governments won't give freedoms back like unrestricted interstate travel or the ability to travel overseas or other immediate incentives to do so. If the situation gets worse in VIC then I may reconsider, but again we have very few new cases that have all been isolating their entire infectious period.

If I was in Sydney then I probably would have been looking to get the 2nd dose ASAP because the chances of catching COVID-19 there are so much higher, because there's a lot of it in the community.

The primary reason I've been desperate to get vaccinated is to see Australian family overseas as soon as I'm allowed to go and it suits my employer to let me take the leave to do so. My family member could come home if able to get a seat, but coming home for a visit doesn't work for that individual as 14 days hotel quarantine is multiple times the length of a normal visit back home to Australia and 14 days is a lot of leave to blow before even starting a trip. Whereas I can take the leave to visit that family member, but I'm not allowed to go.

SWMBO ... AZ done at a GP in the local shopping strip, not five minutes walk from our home.
I had my second shot about 11 hours ago (chip activation?) at the aforementioned local GP previously used by my wife.

No noticeable side effects so far.

It was 8 weeks ago when I made my booking there to have my second dose today.

There was no fuss, no wait. I was advised I did not have to wait after the jab as it was my second.

Straight afterwards I went for a 3 Km beach walk, then back to work (WFH).

I received my COVID-19 vaccination certificate mygov notification an hour ago.

Looking like perhaps my second AZ vaccine in late September may happen before I could have been fully vaccinated with Pfizer with there now being a 6 week gap:
"The idea for 30-39 we will open mRNA towards the end of this month, early next month means that when people are told they can access the vaccine they can do it in a reasonable period of time."

Hubby had AZ no 2 at lunchtime, 12 weeks to the day after no 1. Hardly felt it and no after effects so far (none first time round either). That's the whole family jabbed as everyone else was done ages ago in the UK.

My two and his first were administered in northern NSW but this one in Queensland as we are stuck in lockdown in the Sunshine Coast. Bit miffed that he will count towards Queensland making progress towards their targets!

This time no delay in his Medicare records being updated, so he now has his Covid-19 digital certificate.

Son in UK now fully immunised. He's a needle phobe but the ease of the Pfizer shot meant he didn't feel much stress at all. He was fatigued the next day but yesterday was back to normal. He's 31. His wife (gosh, that feels weird) of two weeks was done at the same time.

Have had both Pfizer shots done now. Tender arm at injection site for 24 hours but that's it. Was a very smooth and quick process and was in and out within 30 mins both times here in Melbourne.
Second one knocked me about a bit, lethargy, chills, but only for 24 hours and I would deem moderate only.

The barista was telling me today that he got his first AZ this morning and was feeling a little lousy.

Whilst waiting for my order there was some discussion about a statement the premier made in the presser today that businesses where the staff and clients are both vaccinated may be allowed to open earlier than others. This caused the other barista to declare that if being vaccinated means he can get his eyebrows waxed he'd go tomorrow. Gave me a good laugh, but gives credence to vaccine privilege costing nothing but motivating people.

Today is 2 weeks post my 2nd Pfizer dose, now fully protected :) I will now be monitoring to see when registration opens up for booster which shoudl happen in January, as 6 months seems to be the recommended timing for a booster.

Myself (60+) and Himself (70+) had 2nd AZ on Friday 29 July, both absolutely zero reactions or injection site discomfort.
AZ #1 on 3 June injection site a bit tender for both and nothing further. #VaccinationRules #GetVaccinated #CrushCovid

48hrs post 2nd Pfizer jab, so far so good.

Surgery was very busy which was good to see. Arm was very sore and still is a little, was a little lethargic but nothing like the first dose. Onward and upward!

Was able to convince the only close relative older than me to have her second AZ jab.lives in sydney and was waiting for Pfizer.
Was amazed as normally she is like Maggie Thatcher - this lady is not for turning.

This morning I took my elderly grandmother to get her second Pfizer dose in Auckland. I was just going with her to help her out, but when I got there they asked me if I would like to be vaccinated as well. I explained that I'm an Australian citizen, but they said that would be OK and even got me registered in NZ with an NHI number on the spot. So I went in with my grandmother, we both got vaccinated and I now have an appointment for the second dose in 3 weeks.

Very happy!
