>>>> ADDED 30 Sept 2010 <<<<

Background to this thread:

In a similar vein to the "Flight Availability / Upgrade Probability Help Desk" there has an increase in the posting of questions about specific seat allocation/availability on a flight. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with such queries. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.

This new consolidated thread is where you can ask questions about seating allocation/availability. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve usability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread:

Please post questions about availability of specific seats in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, Origin, Destination, date and cabin as applicable.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

If its business class, then the 2-2-2 formation is not ideal. The window seats generally have extra storage under the window for those things you like to keep close, but you will have to climb over the person next to you on the aisle, a bit like on the QF A380.

Can a toddler walk in between the 2 middle seats when in flat mode on QF J a320?

Presume you mean A330...if so, probably not based on this

Found this thread from a couple of years ago which is closed so reposting here:
Best economy seats on the B744 and the refurbed A333

I am wondering if the info is still valid? Trying to select a seat in economy (and not wanting to pay for an exit row as I have put in a points + pay upgrade bid).

46A is available, for free, which makes me very doubtful about this seat as the pundits have all clearly indicated and none of the row 58 seats are available for selection (I'm within T-80 window).

I have selected 46D at this stage - anyone have experience with this seat?

Can you find the layout on on of the .pdf's on the following page:

Boeing 747-400 Longreach seat map | Qantas AU

Looks to be Layout 2: 747-438 with 58 business, 36 premium economy and 270 economy!

And now it looks like the metal has changed to layout A. The seat I had selected...46D...does not exist in this layout! Maybe I should take a sleeping bag and find a spot on the floor...hehe :)

All … am flying J on PER-LHR on QF 9 on the Boeing 787 next month (first time) and 1K and 2K have opened up on the seat map in Business. Has anyone travelled in these seats and if so, any thoughts? My wife and I are already pre-seated in 3E and 3F.

I guess it all depends on whether or not you want to sit together. As you would see 3E/3F are in the middle, second row from the front (no row 1 in the middle) where as the K seats are at the window. 1K would be the pick of the two if you want to look out the window, 2K has the "bits & pieces" between the seat and the window. You havent mentioned if 3K is available. If you are not sitting togethet and both want to look out side then 1K & 3K would be the pick of the bunch. Dont go row 5 as it has a missing window. Row 7 is another good one but dont go near row 8 as its near the galley and toilets. I havent seen the second rear cabin so dont konw whats good or not but it is back near/over the wing so not so good for downward views.

1K ... 1K ... 1K for long haul (and 3K if it is available).
You are away from the aisle in the 1K (&A) seats whereas 2K is adjacent to it; so less likely to be disturbed. This is the case for all odd numbered A & K seats.

Note that for short flights where sleep is not planned, even numbered A&K seats (e.g. 2K) can be better having somewhat more storage / work space.

I'm left-handed and Mrs C is right-handed, so we select 3K and 3A respectively on the 787 - seat towards window and mini desk located at our dominant hand.

AFF Supporters can remove this and all advertisements

When I was in 1K coming back from the USA I did not find it intrusive. SeatGuru makes the front seats yellow because of proximity to toilets and galleys. I’ve never found it to be correct in a lot of other aircraft either
