>>>> ADDED 30 Sept 2010 <<<<

Background to this thread:

In a similar vein to the "Flight Availability / Upgrade Probability Help Desk" there has an increase in the posting of questions about specific seat allocation/availability on a flight. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with such queries. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.

This new consolidated thread is where you can ask questions about seating allocation/availability. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve usability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread:

Please post questions about availability of specific seats in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, Origin, Destination, date and cabin as applicable.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

The Qantas Club lounge? If so there's the front desk. If in the departures lounge, just approach the podium when someone turns up. But may be getting a bit late now.

I'm surprised you don't have to come into contact with a person during check-in - not least to check your passport and visa requirements!

Yes, at the Club Lounge... I didn't think to ask the staff here which was silly (I get two lounge passes a year through my bank so not exactly a regular here). They've changed for me now but I've got a coughty seat, oh well! This is why I need to be here to learn how to avoid all my mistakes! Getting my points balance back up is my new mission.

I only saw a lady near bag drop (not my conveyor, one a few down and I couldn't get her attention). Everything else was automated, no human contact at all!

Well - an aisle at the back is better than a middle at the front!

All gone according to lady at the lounge counter... I've been moved to the very back but an aisle is better than none for me... should have asked earlier as suggested, doh! I might be the most hopeless person on this forum I think, so thanks for all your patience!

She has unfortunately told you some porky pies with regards those seats not being available but at least you got an aisle.

Haha, yep, I'll take it and learn a lesson for my return journey! There's a spare seat next to me at the moment apparently anyway.

I think I'll actually pay and try to get an upper deck aisle seat coming home if I can. Thanks for your help!

This is the current seat map for your flight. Are your selected seats shown as occupied? No guarantees that it is reflecting you in those seats but if your seats are shown as empty then your selections haven’t stuck

I selected 69 and 70 A and B so hoping that's us. I also put in for an upgrade but am anticipating another strike out in that regard!

Thanks very much.

I'm travelling MXP to AUH then AUH to SYD on reward J seats. Booked 2 together 6 months ago, this is the return journey of my honeymoon. Etihad have managed to put us in separate rows on the AUH to SYD leg of the journey. They say they can't change it because the only 4 seats left unallocated are "locked for the airport". What's the best way to get seated next to my wife?? Will ringing weekly make it better/worse for my situation?

Specific flight is EY454 3/10/18

What seats have you been reallocated?

Being honeymooners it is understandable that you want to sit side by side.

Maybe you can call and ask for 19C and 20A - at least you'd be closer together - looking at each other almost. (19C appears to be rear facing.)

Then keep your eye out - things are likely to change in the next 10 weeks and a centre pair may open up.

Hi All

Will be heading to SIN from BNE next year in J. From my understanding the couple seats in the middle aren't the best for talking and we will have a 22 mth year old toddler with us. I get the feeling she'll be quite active :/

Is it better for us to sit 1 to a middle seat and 1 to a window, allowing her to walk between us? Or can she still walk between us in the middle seats(not sure of room between rows)? And in lie flat mode?

Sorry, haven't flown J before!

Because the aisle and middle are staggered, its not straight.
In the older days row AB and then it was CD...
Then it was made suites sort of, I don't know how to describe, ...
Row A by the window then became by itself, they took away row B, then B became across the aisle...
So its not exactly straight across, and you also won't be able to see across A to B to C!
Maybe row 2A aisle B C is best, and toddy sits in B?
No way to hem her in so to speak.
Unless you go back to Y, where you could put husband in C and toddy in D and you in F, rows that is.
I know I talk a lot of bullfluff, but have flow QF J several times, once in the old pre suites in J and once in the new suites in J.
Others will probably be more succinct.
Edit: mods, (if you can excuse me this once) this link is from seatguru.
If you check the seating, the middle row is a bit forward, and you would sort of get my drift.

Welcome to AFF zenyattamondatta. Always good to provide class of travel and where known details of your flight as seat layouts can vary.

Sorry, a little new to this and also realise I messed up by addressing the person that started the thread.

It'll be a Malaysian Airlines flihgt from KL to London. Most likely business class unless I am lucky enough to wing first from my client.
