Rockpool Bar and Grill Lunch with QFF confirmed attendees

Part of the feedback we received at the lunch was that members would like to see the Mods eligible to take part in events.

So we had a quick competition amongst the Moderators and Lindsay Wilson and Markis10 were lucky enough to draw the "long straw" and be invited to fly on the Inaugural Qantas flight to Dubai!
They will be the guest of Qantas and Emirates at the Gala Dinner at Atlantis, The Palm and a dinner with Neil Perry at Al Maha Desert Resort. They will also have access to media events and get to explore our exciting new hub in Dubai for a few days before flying home.

This provides Qantas a great opportunity to say thank you to all the moderators who work so hard to make the AFF community so valuable for all.

Fantastic news :)
Well done QF

Excellent gesture and well deserved. :)

We will be expecting a trip report though! :p

That is great Red Roo, well done Mods & hope you have a great time.

Well done QF :)

Good job guys, hope you have a great time! Can't wait to see your trip reports.

I wish I could come too, was really hoping to have won that QF.com competition last week...hehehe
Any spare seats Red Roo?
;)

A very public thank you to Red Roo/ Qantas for the opportunity, there will be trip reports along with other reports on some road tests we will be doing with some new Frequent Flyer Store products. Hopefully we can pick up some tips in terms of what to do, what to see etc etc that we can pass on!

As some of you would be aware I was originally on the last scheduled A380 out of SIN, I am pleased to say at least another AFFer already on the flight was able to grab 80K on that flight and can also hopefully report on the SIN changes.

I wish I could come too...
Don't we all!

I am sure the trip will be great fun and a great learning experience. I am looking forward to a blow-by-blow trip report (or two) with lots of photos, detailing all the logistical issues, like dealing with arriving in the middle of the night (how that affects accommodation check-in), transfers, and the DXB-outbound-duty-free-purchasing-and-collection-on-arrival process (perhaps I should place my order now??), lounges etc. I am sure most AFF members will benefit form their report and experiences.

Good luck to those going - I had to bow out of any straw drawing due to my Journey North this week.

Red Roo, this is fantastic. Hats off to you, Qantas Loyalty and Qantas. A real gesture of generosity and no one better suited to the trip than our Mods.

(I feel better now that at least someone I know well will enjoy the inaugural experience after I didn't manage to get on via my 25 words or less! ;) :D)

Hope they're flying in Business or better... ;) (oh, who am I kidding.... :p)

We are all expecting detailed trip reports. :D

Lindsay Wilson, that means you! Not only for your own fame, but of course Mrs Wilson will be expecting all the detail, too. ;)

The Lounges are the big thing for me - be great if you could explain if you really do board from the lounge or is it just boarding to a gate from the lounge.

Awesome prize for the guys and well deserved for their efforts on the site.

Now perhaps we will have less whinging when they aren't included on the next competition :p

Well done Mods getting this invitation to the Inaugural flight! Very nice gesture by Q. I'm sure it will be a flight to remember. No jealousy at all on my part and of course I don't hope you are put in the middle seats in economy! LOL.

Yes, I have to say that I was actually beavering away on the day it was announced and only an SMS from another Moderator alerted me to my good fortune.

I had the blood drain from my face when I realised that I had won and there were a couple of OMG's  at work...I was gobsmacked at the generosity of the offer, so my thanks again to Red Roo and Qantas Loyalty.

Unfortunately, markis10's Plat shadow may not work on this trip, but I think he'd rather somebody he knows sitting next to him. There will be a joint TR being done on as many aspects of the Tour as we can fit in...it might also prompt me to get an iPad and finally upgrade my computer abilities.

Finally, thanks to all the AFF wellwishers - yes, it has cost me a trip to Tiffany & Co for a certain present for Mrs LW. I'm sure I'll find something for the kids that isn't so expensive :D. Still, Mrs LW is worth it - taking care of the kids for 4 days by herself ;)
