Yes, I have to say that I was actually beavering away on the day it was announced and only an SMS from another Moderator alerted me to my good fortune.

I had the blood drain from my face when I realised that I had won and there were a couple of OMG's  at work...I was gobsmacked at the generosity of the offer, so my thanks again to Red Roo and Qantas Loyalty.

Unfortunately, markis10's Plat shadow may not work on this trip, but I think he'd rather somebody he knows sitting next to him. There will be a joint TR being done on as many aspects of the Tour as we can fit in...it might also prompt me to get an iPad and finally upgrade my computer abilities.

Finally, thanks to all the AFF wellwishers - yes, it has cost me a trip to Tiffany & Co for a certain present for Mrs LW. I'm sure I'll find something for the kids that isn't so expensive :D. Still, Mrs LW is worth it - taking care of the kids for 4 days by herself ;)

So who gets the middle seat then? ;)

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Congratulations to Lindsay and Markis10 on being chosen for this reward. It is a great acknowledgement for the hard work the Mods do, and recognition of the value of this site ably run/maintained by admin.
This is a great offer by Qantas and Qantas Loyalty etc, and shows how they do value our opinions, even if they are constrained by various factors in granting our many wishes.
It is also a great way of having our Mods experience and report back on Dubai, lounges, connections etc.
I hope this inaugural flight and the marvellous events organised by Qantas are much enjoyed. :)

Neither of us :D

Upper deck or lower?
oooh! Am so jealous, but also delighted for you & Markis 10 :). A very nice recognition for very many hundreds of hours of what has to be a difficult job at times.

TR eagerly anticipated.

And my bags are packed, ready to go, standing here outside the door... But my comp didn't hit the mark :(. Will just have to live the trip vicariously through you two..

Storyteller, you know I can't tell  - my inaugural trip on an A388 as well as to the destination (did make it to Abu Dhabi as a QF stopover on the way to LHR in 1991).

(I feel better now that at least someone I know well will enjoy the inaugural experience after I didn't manage to get on via my 25 words or less! ;) :D)

This is a great gesture by QF. BTW, I can see no result of the 25 words or less competition on the QF web site. Has anyone seen who won and what their winning contribution was?

Echoing all the positive messages already posted. Well deserved good fortune for the Mods - and a well directed generous gesture from QF. Enjoy every moment, Lindsay Wilson and Markis10! :p

Great to see QF being pro-active by giving a wonderful opportunity to 2 mods.

Enjoy the ride and eagerly look forward to reading your feedback.

Did anyone who attended the lunch happen to ask QF why PE earns SCs at the same rate as Y? Given that Y- earns at Y-50% and J at Y+100%, it would seem logical that PE should earn at Y+50%. I've never tried PE before but I recently booked a well-priced PE special SYD-SCL-SYD for a little Patagonia and Antarctic exploration in November-December (although I'm hoping the upgrades come through ;)).

I'm not sure PE seats are on anyone's radar that much unlike all the other classes. Not available domestically and only on Qamtas metal (only on the A380 ?) and not at all on Emirates.
