OK... Looks like if the 'To' field is blank (e.g. the first time you access the site, or first time you access after temporary files cleared), it will not display the Travel Class on the form by default. You need to first add the 'To' destination, and then it appears. I guess that makes sense, if tied to logic on travel classes available to a given city ahead of class selection... Of course, any unfamiliar changes to the booking page regulars can cause confusion.

EDIT: Yes, like Red Roo said.

Red Roo, the multi city option now allows Premium Economy but selections are not bookable if they contain economy legs. Displays a fare but you cannot change flights and proceeding to the next screen brings up a database error.

On a slightly related topic - I think there is another fault when getting classic quotes. I am currently searching for classic availability to call for a JASA MEL-HBA. Return shows as 32000 points direct, however was unavailable one way on the day I wanted. So I looked at HBA-SYD-MEL for the return on the day I wanted. With the direct flight down it quotes as 40 000 points total. All happy with that, you then click to the next screen and all of a sudden it says "Points required for this booking: 56 000". It doesn't do that with any other classic quote I have tried. What's going on?

Well I just received:

Dear James

Take off with greater flight options when flying in Australia
We're excited to announce the next stage of improvements to the way you search for cash and Award fares on qantas.com.^ From today you have greater visibility of Qantas & Partner Classic Awards[SUP]Ω[/SUP] when flying within Australia as they will now appear alongside our cash fares - providing you with greater choice when selecting the right flight for you.
For the first time, you can also combine Classic Award with an Any Seat Award˜ or cash fare[SUP]+[/SUP] in the same booking if you're flying within Australia.[SUP]#[/SUP] For example, you can choose a Classic Award for your flight out, and a cash fare for the flight back.[SUP]β[/SUP] You also have the ability to view all cash fares in points simply by ticking 'View in Points' at the top of the flight results.

For greater flexibility, you can now book domestic Classic Awards up to 2 hours prior to departure when booking on qantas.com.*

If you wish to see more Classic Awards options available to you such as Classic Awards for outside of Australia, bookings with multiple destinations or with our partner airlines, then simply select 'Show Classic Awards' on the search panel at the start of your search.

When you're on the go, you can now book Classic Awards on your mobile phone. Visit qantas.com on your mobile or download the Qantas app available now for both iOS and Android devices.

Experience a new way to search at qantas.com or learn more about our Award booking options.

QF website now only partly available. These changes makes this booking system absurd and quite misleading. For example a fully flexible economy flight from Cairns to Melbourne via Sydney is $1031 - the same flight in Business Class is $1001. I am sure Qantas has some rationale for this pricing discrepancy and the awkward format of the website - but what is it?

Agree Steelo, the website is throwing up some beyond logic fares. Right now the fully flexible economy fare is cheaper than the sale fare for a flight to UK in October (and still 16% higher than any other carrier).

I've said this before, but Qantas deals with something like 6 different outsourcers - Companies persist in regarding IT as just a "cost" rather than something integral to their business and this is the result......

Well domestic flights have J available again on the fares page it seems.

Our online team is currently working to bring the website back up to full functionality and we expect to have resolution shortly.
I am getting far too old, but "in my day" when I worked for both TAA and then Qantas in the IT areas, heads would have rolled if we had ever released something like this. I worked on the central software that supported both the release of Taarsan 2 and the cargo system for Qantas and we just didn't go with a new system until we were sure it worked! Sure there are always small problems and bug fixes but this level - shakes her head and reaches for her walking stick.....

Maybe there should be some sort of bonus promotion:
"Successfully book anything Qantas.com and receive..."

Have reverted to the call centre today. Wait times are going up, still not terrible. Staff seem to be okay with their new system today. I do not understand why this couldn't have been all rolled out at once, and tested properly beforehand. It really feels like someone is making changes to the code on the fly and saving it directly on the server.

Separating classes on DOM flights is stupid. One thing I always liked about the QF site. I can't even use it on an iPad without psychiatric intervention.

Please stop changing and breaking your site. You're ruining my scripts that change and break your site.
