Have not been doing much booking lately but noticed this morning that if your logged in, classic awards will show without the need to select the check box marked "show classic awards"

I thought it was a good move until you pointed out J is gone, and cannot be selected, another case of who let the interns out?

Re: Classic awards showing without the need to check box?

Business still shows up if you click "Search Qantas and Partner Classic Award options" at the bottom of the available fares

Re: Classic awards showing without the need to check box?

Oi Markis do you have access to my screen?

You have the same search as me on your screen to show no J selectable Brisbane to Sydney on the 17th ROFL

I dont understand how such a big organisation can continuew to stuff up like this ot really is amateur hour at QF lately

Yes but it only shows bookings for flights using points and NOT with money. You can not select any option on any page that displays the cost in Dollars. Pretty piss poor in my opinion.

Re: Classic awards showing without the need to check box?

Me too no J shows, also I don't get classic and normal together its either one or the other, using Safari on a Mac.

Update:

Tried Chrome all show together now domestic Classic and flights, no J though.

International do not show together!!.

Hope they fix it for Safari its what all Macs use.

Guess its IT clowns.

Oh, good, it's not just me.

Absolutely bonkers! If J costs only a little more than Y then I'll book J. Got to book a flight to CBR on a Monday morning late in September and I know loads will heavy and that Y won't be much cheaper than J.

I need to see all this on one screen so I can justify booking the J fare, though!

Re: Classic awards showing without the need to check box?

There have been some changes to the T&Cs as well - effective 14 August. They've introduced the ability to combine "Classic Awards" with non-Classic Awards (see 14.8). Looks as though if you do combine, you'll get the more restrictive conditions placed on your refunds/cancellations. How many people will that catch out. I also notice it looks like they have taken away the idea of a "minimum" number of points for an ASA - now it's just the number of points QF specifies at the time of booking. I am sure this has changed from the previous terms and conditions which, I recall, specified it was the number of points stated at the time of booking - but then went on to say it could be reduced to 5,000. They also seem to have fixed the ASA and Points Plus Pay terminology issues.

Re: Classic awards showing without the need to check box?

Just checked following, big difference.

12 June/25th June 2014 in Y

Safari: SYD/DXB return 96K points and $413

Chrome: SYD/DXB return 96K points and $1513

Update:
Chrome now showing the same as Safari.

Marc B how does one combine international classic with non classic?.

Not sure. No Classic options seem to be showing for international at this stage.

Re: Classic awards showing without the need to check box?

This is obviously stage 2 of the booking system enhancements. Business class fares will only be bookable via the call center, on a 1900 number charged at $4/minute, between the hours of 3pm and 4:15pm on Thursdays.

Re: Classic awards showing without the need to check box?

The multi-city option allows selection of class - so you can get it to give you Business (only shows Business and Business Award). Deleting unnecessary segments will allow you to book one way, or return flights.

This makes it hard to see that the business fare is only about $20 more (for the date I was searching BNE to SYD), than the fully flexible.

It is a pain to use, as if you select "Modify Search", and you were searching what was one way or return, it doesn't take you back to multi-city input, so you end up with Economy options only.

Ironic to see Qantas manage to remove premium seats from ability to book online - even worse than removing mASA from online (but I think they may fix this one )

Re: Classic awards showing without the need to check box?

Simply unbelievable. They put a changed web site on line without the ability to book Business? This is beyond a joke.

Qantas is beyond a joke.

One hopes that their safety checks and balances are better than those in IT.

Re: What changes would you make to the Qantas Booking site?

Did a did a search this morning for a domestic flight, and without me requesting it, it is showing Classic Award availability alongside Red e-Deals, Flexi Saver and Fully Flexible fares... but the Business Class column has been dropped again. For a typical domestic search, I'd prefer to see the Business Class fare rather than Classic Award availability.

Edit: And then to make matters worse, if you do want to see Business Class fares, you can't just go to Modify Search... the fare class option isn't displayed there. You have to go right back to the beginning and start again.

Edit Again: Arghh! Actually, Travel Class is not even available on the main front page... It seems Qantas doesn't want to sell me a Business Class fare anymore...

Two steps forward, one step back... cha cha cha...

Hang on. I just went back to the booking page (using IE10), and got a Windows message at the bottom of the page - "Only secure content is displayed - click here to display all content". When I did, I THINK a 'travel class' choice appeared below the initial booking area. (Wasn't paying that much attention - not sure if the 2 things were directly connected)

Or maybe it just got fixed by QF on the fly?

Re: Classic awards showing without the need to check box?

Do the people developing or enhancing this website actually book and pay for tickets on Qantas? This latest enhancement is terrible - I choose a premium seat based upon several factors including price, schedule and of course my own budget. This web site assumes you are an economy customer or a business class customer. This does two things - it makes our online bookings more complicated and time consuming - and surely while it may sell more premium priced seats in economy because you cannot readily compare them with business class fares - surely it is not a good way of promoting the sale of business class seats. But why do this? It may well suit people on a reasonably direct route - but is of little value to people who engage in any other routes. Is any one listening at Qantas?

Economy or Business drop down box seems to be there now, under the main booking area, irrespective of 'secure content' choice.

So a fix on the fly.

"Gee Alan, I never travel business, so I didn't notice there was no choice to book business."

Re: What changes would you make to the Qantas Booking site?

The travel class is there now. "Gee, we didn't notice that we changed it so you couldn't book a business class fare."

What changes would you make to the Qantas Booking site? Oh, put us out of our misery. just scrap the lot, give the task to someone competent and start again.

You're right... it has now appeared... that is pretty poor still.

Kinda wishing I had've taken a screen shot at the time... though it is good that it is fixed now. (Wonder how long it was like that overnight for?)
