Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions regarding what Airport Lounges are available at specific airports when travelling on specific airlines. While one can be assured of access at the airline lounge when travelling on that airline (provided you have Lounge membership), thing start to get complex when travelling on a codeshare or partner airline.

Posting Guidelines
Please post your questions about Lounge access in this thread. Be sure to include the airline you are travelling on, the airport (and terminal, if known), and any Airline Status or Airport Lounge membership programs you have.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

(Special thanks to Princess Fiona for suggesting this new thread.)

It seems so! From the QF lounge location page - Melbourne Lounge: http://www.qantas.com/travel/airlin...irst-lounge/global/en?loungeCategory=qcLounge

Eligible Class of Travel
FirstQantas First
Next onward flight that day must be a Qantas marketed flight (QF flight number).
One guest allowed and must be travelling with the member on the same flight.

Emirates First
Next onward flight that day must be operated by Qantas or Emirates with an EK flight number.
One guest allowed and must be travelling with the member on the same flight.

I found this just now
View attachment 74900

My flight is Qantas award and EK flight number.

I interpret that as only being eligible to use the EK F Lounge as your ticket is not a QF marketed flight.

All EK awards booked with Qantas points are booked under the EK flight number never a QF codeshare (marketed) flight.

But it says

The quote was taken from the Qantas page for the Qantas Melbourne First lounge. (it wasn't a generic 'which club can I access in Melbourne airport').

In the Emirates First paragraph I think they are talking about (non QFF) people booked on an Emirates flight in F with either QF or EK code and not the Emirates F lounge.
So I agree with you TV.

good to know ... there was something about it being refurbished.

Signage indicated new lounge mid 2017 (also LAX) ... I could hear building works (today) behind the end wall - dining end of the lounge.

I seem to remember there was an area of the forum where people who were flying and had a spare guest on their lounge access would pair up with people who dont have status to access lounges. I'm heading over solo to PHL and have a 7 hour layover in LAX, just wondering if I imaged that area of AFF or if I just can't search very well.

Hi,
2 of us flying CX0178 Aug 13th 23.30 out of Melb.
QC members but only Bronze cannot access Cathay Pacific lounge. Have Priority Pass membership but no lounge in Melb. Any suggestions?

If this is the wrong thread to post this please let me know. First time user.

It's the right thread!
Welcome to AFF!

Sorry to respond to your first question with a negative answer, but I think you're out of luck.
As you observe there is no Priority Pass lounge in Melbourne, the only one in Australia is in Cairns!
I assume you're flying economy, so your booking class won't give you access.
Obviously your bronze QFF status won't give you access anywhere, so that leaves only Qantas Club membership.
Unlike Qantas Gold or Platinum status holders, Qantas Club members can only access the Qantas International Business Lounge if they're flying on a Qantas or Jetstar flight.
This excludes Flights with Emirates or Oneworld carriers like CX, unless you're travelling on a code share and booked with the QF flight number.

I can't think of anything to advise in the short term. In the long term I'd consider saving the QC membership fees and spending them on earning Gold QFF status instead!

Thanks for the quick reply.
I thought as much but wanted confirmation.

I have an upcoming trip SYD-Tokyo-Osaka then Osaka Tokyo-Syd. I will be come QF Gold after the first leg of the trip (with QF). On the return leg (4 days later), Osaka to Tokyo is with JAL. Do i have any chance to use JAL lounge as a QF gold? Thanks in advance.

Depends how long it takes for the SC to post. If you do click over to SG, then remove your QFF number from the booking and add it back in again to trigger the JAL system to recognise it.

At the very least have the QF app at the ready so you can show the checkin/lounge desks your status if it updates in time.

Maybe think laterally - what's like a lounge in MEL T2:
Little Ludlow at Melbourne Airport

and there are public showers at the T2 (international terminal)

Might cost some $$ but consider that access to airline lounges usually involve the expense of a lot of money to either pay for a business class flight or lots of travel to get to Gold and above tier status.

Thanks JessicaTam! QF usually update the SC from their flights within 24 hrs. sound like I will be able to get to the lounge. Regards.

As long as ALL the SCs you are relying on are from QF sectors.
SCs from OW partners (AY, CX, IB and MH in my experience) seem to credit to QFF accounts once per week.
So JAL may well be the same.

Thanks Asseeeayeem. Yes, I only need SCs from the QF sector to make it. I should have the status updated in the QF app but wont physically get the card until I get back to Australia.
It is pleasantly surprised that this forum is much more informative and helpful than the airline website. Thank you all.

Hi there, I'm a QF platinum and I'm flying to coughet next week on a Malaysian Airlines ticketed flight. I'm flying economy.
Will I have access to the Qantas Club lounge in Sydney and when transiting in KL by virtue of the fact Malaysian Airlines are OneWorld ?

You can access any OneWorld lounge (except some third party operated lounges).
In SYD that means you can use the QF F lounge - much better than domestic Qantas clubs.
It is widely recognised as one of the top lounges in the world.

At KUL you can use the MH First/Platinum lounge which is a treat. If you have a long transit there you can use a sleeper room with a proper bed.
But you might want to put your head into the business lounge to try the laksa.
There is no alcohol in the business lounge itself - but there is a bar to your left as you enter the business lounge.

At KUL you will probably arrive at the satellite terminal and your flight to HKT will probably leave from the main terminal.
Go to the Golden Lounge in the satellite terminal - and make sure they usher you to the right towards the first lounge.
The business lounge is to the left.
Then you can catch the two minute train ride to the main terminal just before your flight to HKT.
