Is this thread still in Playground?

Can one of the moderators please move it the Meetings and Social Events forum for a little more exposure?

This event is the day after the AGM, right? (IIRC from the last Brisbane drinks)

Used to hit golf balls but ages ago now (at least 10 years ago, and even back then I was horrible), so I'm not going to start now, but if there's a nice contingent going, I wouldn't mind tagging along, if people do not mind that.

If so, then put me down for 'interested' at the moment and I'll sure up once I get a better idea of AGM arrangements (and finances ).

Correct anat0l, it's the day after the AGM.

Players and non-players welcome. Non-players can probably decide to either:

1. Drink in the Clubhouse all day waiting for us to finish
2. Walk around the course with the players
3. Caddie for the players (or drive buggies)

Done. Tell me the number of caddies you want and I will try to negotiate a group discount. :p

By the way number #299 at Khao Kheow on Christmas Day must have thought all her Christmas', or whatever she believes, came at once when I gave her a 700 baht tip for the round, normal is 300 baht, plus a few trinkets from Australia. She did deserve it though having to put up with me for 4+ hours but she also gave me a rose and a small towel as a present. Great young kid and she ended up getting the money I would have spent on alcohol yesterday. Yes I did have a relatively alcohol dry day yesterday.

Hi JohnK

How was Khao Kheow? I will be playing there and at some others in a couple of weeks time, have played a few other courses in the area but not Khao Kheow.

Khao Kheow is a nice but tough golf course, with water coming into play on most holes, in very good condition at the moment. Avoid the sand at all costs as it is very soft and the ball usually plugs and as usual in Thailand the caddies do a horrible job of raking the bunkers.

It is a Pete Dye designed course with three 9's and most holes are replicas of some of his most famous holes. If you get to play the 'B' course you will love B8 and B9 which are replicas of holes 17 and 18 at the TPC Sawgrass course. You will love B8, the island green, hitting from an elevated tee. Also stand behind the tee on B9 and take in the view of the hole, water all down the left with the green tucked in behind the water, and the clubhouse which is almost symmetrical to the mountain behind it.

Anyway I am sure you will enjoy....

Thanks for the info JohnK

We have requested the B course so hopefully it comes through, looking forward to it...

munitalP,

As I posted some time ago I'm up for a walk around the course, or I could chauffeur someone, IF I am able to be there. Not sure if I can even get to BNE that weekend at all yet.

Not to mention that 18 holes of golf can be a reinvigorating postscript to the trials of the annual FT AGM the day before!
