Treasly..clink on the link...you will get an article about the Plat membership. Click the link...takes you the German version of A/Club site. Fill in your a/club no. and your email address and Voila... You are now a Platinum member of A/club.

Then go back to your email address and you will receive a confirmation from Accor welcoming to the Platinum Membership of A/Club

Another tip is to use a browser like google chrome. When you connect to the website it will detect its in German and offer to translate it for you.

This worked fine for me just now.
I used the first link in post #1 which linked to the view from the wing article and linked from there.
One observation though, I was logged into my A|Club account on the computer at first and it didnt like that, I was getting the red "promotion does not exist". After I logged out and tried from the above link I got the " under consideration" message as well. Logged back into A|Club and ... voila Platinum!

Now that will earn me one extra point per Euro, 2 as base with 50% for Silver upto 100% for Plat, though probably not much else, but a point is a point.

Accor Platinum Status Benefit:

1. You wont get the worst room in the house because there is likely to be at least 1 person staying who has not heard of the status upgrade offer!

Forgot to add, Stay History and forward reservations have carried over from my old A|Club number to the new one ( didnt have any points in there to worry about)

I checked in last night for my first stay as A|Club Platinum and I was upgraded from a standard room to the penthouse suite, not bad for $150... something like a 4 level room bump. Even the lady at reception was amazed at what I got.

Novotel in St Kilda, The lady in reception was amazed that the upgrade was that high, not that I got the upgrade. She said that upgrades are always given subject to availabilty. I suppose in FF parlance it's like paying for a red e-deal and then getting op upped to first.

I am not allowed to spend much money on hotels for work so normally the best I get is a coughpy little room.

If I was staying for a few days with the family then this would be ideal for us. As it was I felt that it was a little wasted on me, and I didn't have a whole lot of time to enjoy it, checking in at midnight and then back out at 9am.

The views of Port Philip bay really were fabulous.

I wonder what will happen when I stay there next time (in two weeks).

Fortunatelky for me the Platinum Status came through when I registered!

Right at this moment I'm using AFF from a great luxury double room at Sofitel T5 Heathrow - was 'matched' only a week or so back and my card hasn't come through yet, but the front of house lady saw my new status and upgraded us from a basic room to a luxury, gave free drinks voucher, etc.

Hoping for the same when we fly through T5 again at the end of the week en route home!

Yet ANOTHER benefit (and saving) gained through use of AFF - many thanks!

Good on you. I've been a Platinum for a while following a match in March, and I don't know what I'm doing wrong but the only hotel to recognise me (with upgrade and a gift) was the one where I'd least expect it - and that's a Mercure. Sofitel, Pullman, Novotel ... nothing. Very inconsistent, although hopefully by now the bugs are being ironed out.

I don't think so. I have received upgrade email from a hotel I a staying at in Feb.
