Re: Free Accor Platinum Status

Would this platinum deal get you access to any lounges or clubs in these hotels or what governs that??

Re: Free Accor Platinum Status

Mine finally worked with the German edition.

Will wait and see about the benefits. The late checkout is attractive

I don't see any indication that status gets you into a club lounge ... seems like its based upon the room you book. Perhaps an upgraded room would also come with club access if you got a club room.... unless there are unpublished benefits.

Re: Free Accor Platinum Status

So what are we all going to use our new platinum status for? It's really not worth a whole lot is it??

Re: Free Accor Platinum Status

Benefits from the website include:

- 100% A|Club points bonus for every stay
- Exclusive benefits at Sofitel*, Pullman and MGallery hotel
- Welcome drink and gift
- Room upgrade**
- Late check-out up to 4:00 pm**
- A room always available if you reserve at least 3 days before your arrival.
- A Thalassa sea & spa Institute beauty and treatment product when you stay at Sofitel
Thalassa sea & spa
- A welcome gift for any stay of 10 nights or more at Adagio, plus late check-out**
- Dedicated customer service

I think the biggest benefit is the points bonus and the ability to transfer at 1:1 with QFF. That said i could see some benefit with the room available if you reserve at least 3 days before. I nearly got caught out in Sydney last week trying to find accommodation.

Re: Free Accor Platinum Status

I can't get either of the links to work....just keep getting either "incorrect information" or "does not match" error message depending on whether I try eight digit or full number....oh well...

Re: Free Accor Platinum Status

P.S. Edited to add: Email arrived in my inbox 3 minutes later, Plat here I am (but with slightly changed number, as noted by Taezar). It would be a week after my one and probably only stay in an A Club property...

What should change is the seventh digit, as this is the indicator of status. The final check digit will change as well.

You need to be a bit careful with the layout. The Welcome drink/Room Upgrade/Late Check out and room available are the benefits of Sofitel, Pullman and MGallery:

-100% A|Club points bonus for every stay

Exclusive benefits at Sofitel*, Pullman and MGallery hotels.
- Welcome drink and gift
- Room upgrade**
- Late check-out up to 4:00 pm**

Re: Free Accor Platinum Status

The link worked for me as well. I got a couple of free bottles of wine when using the Platinum level which came with the original Westpac Krisflyer promo.

The promo page talks about automatically converting Accor miles to FlyBlue (Airfrance). After I received my Platinum status I checked my account details. No mention of Fly Blue.

Thanks for the tip casanovawa.
Mrs Albatross710 will be very happy to stay at Melbourne Sofitel for the tennis. I wonder if we'll see Roger Federer in the hallway.

Re: Free Accor Platinum Status

Accor's being pretty profligate with status of late aren't they!

I thought he stays at Crown?
I also got my Platinum upgrade, from the free Gold status I got last month courtesy of AFF :D

Since A|Club has started, I have used Accor hotesl when the price (cheap) was right and/or the location suited (no viable Hilton/ICH hotels closer).

Starting with the 500 point enrolments bonus, I had a few stays hear and there, and a few more since I was comped Gold through the SQ promo with its 75% earlier this year.

I have gleaned in the 12 Stays since Oct 2008 nearly 5000 points - mostly less than €50 in cost. I have a stay coming up at in early January that will then see me move those points to QFF.

Re: Free Accor Platinum Status

I wonder whether this was a glitch in their system. Why would they give everyone platinum status. The benefits aren't that great, but still a bit weird, no?

I think that the travel industry is moving to GFC footing again. We've also seen SQ offering double points over what should be the peak Christmas period. Accor in this case isn't actually giving away anything until the comped member actually spends money and stays at the property. The property was otherwise going to be running at well under 1005 occupancy. The offer looks liek it was originally made with Air France Fly Blue members. My thoughts are that they are hoping for home ground advantage, adding additional nights on their home turf.

As serfty showed earlier having the program puts Accor at least into his decision pool, rather than have travelers looking at the wider market.

From memory I got some gifts on arrival but never accumulated points with them as the accom deals I booked through Wotif didn't qualify for the points. IME they, like Hilton, want bookings made direct.

Re: Free Accor Platinum Status

Thanks to the OP. I registered without any problem via the first link (German) and upgraded my Gold membership to Platinum.
As others have noted the membership doesn't give you many perks. I have had several stays as a Gold member and only received mininmal benefits, Sofitel Washington DC - I got a free drink and Sofitel Melbourne - late checkout. I have never received a room upgrade. Not expecting a lot from the Platinum membership, but if they are offering it, I'll take it. :p
