This is what your card number looks like:

xx_xx_ Y ZZZZZZZZ C

xx_xx_ = Card type
Y = Status
ZZZZZZZZ = Account/Member number
C = Chack Digit

If log into the A-club website, you can just use the ZZZZZZZZ (being you account number!) and your password to login.

My card arrived today.
On the weekend I stayed at Novotel Canberra and requested an upgrade - received a King Executive room
It was a bigger room at the northern end of the building.

I already had a booking so emailed the hotel and asked if it was possible to receive an upgrade as Platinum!

So for upgrade to be possible, book a "lower" type room, via their website, then email them afterwards requesting an upgrade? Couldnt book say, expedia then ask for upgrade as they can see where you booked it from and likely to refuse?

I booked through HotelClub, then joined A|club as plat. On check in I gave them my membership number and was upgraded on the spot. SO no need to book through them in my experience.

YMMV and indeed MMMV next week.

Both Sofitels in SE QLD are not A Club participants (franchises), as are a few Novotels in NSW
