Re: Free Accor Platinum Status

Platinum card was received in the mail sometime last week as I picked up my mail today

:mrgreen::mrgreen:

Re: Free Accor Platinum Status

My Plat card arrived today and I had to laugh at:

"you are clearly one of our most loyal clients". :D

Intrigued by the "so we are thrilled to renew your A Club Platinum card" :confused:

Just checked my log in and it looks like my old account has been merged into the new number, correct points :D

My new card also arrived today but had no reference to "loyal client" or "renew"

I did not need to create or merge accounts; simply used my existing account which was upgraded henceforth.

Re: Free Accor Platinum Status

I believe they merged them for us serfty, I didn't do anything :D. Certainly my account number changed so I would have expected them to do that for us.

I used the section on the left:

Strange, my account number stayed the same...

If by your number changed, you mean that the 7th digit changed (and the last), this is not a new account. The 7th digit reflects your status.

For example, if you are on a 308103 series number (first six digits), your seventh digit will be:

1 = base
2 = Silver
3 = Gold
4 = Platinum

If you are on an Advantage Plus account, it's a bit different.

Re: Free Accor Platinum Status

Mine definitely changed (first is my ordinary account, the second my Plat number) - sure only two digits (7th and last) but a change nevertheless:

3081xx113xx_3431
3081xx413xx_3435

3081xx113xx_3431
3081xx413xx_3435

The last digit will change as it is a check digit. All that has changed in your number is the status indicator (and the check)

Re: Free Accor Platinum Status

Used to check digits in my industry, however it is still a change to my account number (call me pedantic - I know people who do :D).

Thanks for the explanation oz_mark. Makes sense.

Haven't checked my mail yet. But the funny thing is that I would be a club plat by end Jan anyway based on planned bookings.

Checked into a very dodgy mercury on the weekend and my gold number was still showing on the res. Wonder if, when and how they auto update.

This is what your card number looks like:

xx_xx_ Y ZZZZZZZZ C

xx_xx_ = Card type
Y = Status
ZZZZZZZZ = Account/Member number
C = Chack Digit

If log into the A-club website, you can just use the ZZZZZZZZ (being you account number!) and your password to login.

Re: Free Accor Platinum Status

With the lack of points being credited at some hotels as reported by many it could be a chuck digit!

Interestingly, I've only ever had one stay not post (even my $30 night in DRW posted :rolleyes: (even if it was to an account I didn't know about))

Effectively the number is the same.

e.g. The member number is 13xx_343

This is the third variance to the indicator digits for my number in the last 12 months as I moved to Gold (with SQ and then Platinum with this promotion).

The autocomplete number from my base days still works to log me on.

Re: Free Accor Platinum Status

BTW if you do have accounts merged (like I have), you will see a lot of items described as 'Transfer' in your account activity
