Have to say, if possible, i would much prefer to book a room then ask immediately for an upgrade and receive confirmation rather than wait till i rock up at check in...

Not sure if they will do it or not, just saying...

Booked a night at the Novotel BKK airport for in February. Let's see if I get an upgrade email. Arriving very late and leaving early for Samui anyway so not a major issue if I don't. Got a pretty good deal anyway, been putting of the booking for the last 3 weeks but as it was consistently around AUD150 I booked it today to find it has dropped to AUD126 including breakfast!
 
Any way to force the status update on current bookings? It doesn't appear to be automatically done. Have about 7 at the moment so bot looking forward to a call centre experience.

Actually, I find the A|Club call centre quick and easy to deal with. Even as a bronze, my call was answered within minutes, connected to intelligent agent, who was able to immediately see everything she needed straight away - including the copies of guest folios I'd uploaded to the website (which was needed for my call).

The points claim escalation was solved and corrected on the spot, and she even realised on the call that the fix would push me to Silver, and pushed a magic button once the points had been keyed to make absolutely sure it happened and the card was posted. By the time I hung up the call, the silver confirmation email and dispatch information was waiting in my email.

The number of positive customer service experiences I've had as good as this can be counted on one hand. That's how highly I rated it.

Received mine today so have been doing some serious booking.
 
Got my platinum card today as well. Will test it out out the Sofitel went worth in Sydney this Sat night.

Late 4pm checkout will come in handy.

I find the quickest and easiest way to update your status is to fire off a quick email to the hotel directly.

I find A|Club/Accor call centres to be very, very, hit and miss. There are some fantastic staff on there, but there is also some shockers. Unfortunately lately I've started to get more and more non-helpful ones.

Well, I can now say that I have 'collected the set' so to speak, being all the status cards in a single loyalty program:



Achieved this in 13 months, one legitimately earned status, one as a perk of an airline status match, and one thanks to Accor's promotion codes. Not bad at all.

Nice card set but I don't like how they are all look the same. Its hard to tell them apart at a glance. I think that they should rethink their design.
 
Another Pullman stay today, zero recognition at all of my platinum status, and that's with card and all (not just relying on number in booking) I don't know what I am doing wrong, but just 1 hotel out of about 8 has provided any sort of recognition. Wherever possible, I'm sticking to SPG & Hilton which are much much better.

Sorry to hear that, when it's a published benefit, there should be no excuse.

Out of interest did you ask about room upgrade etc when they failed to proactively offer this?

As above though, did you ask and were refused or did you rely upon them remembering to offer you an upgrade?

In a Korea, so some communication issues (in fact I don't think they even bothered putting the card number in the booking - almost felt they were thinking what on earth is this despite the A Club signage every where)! But didn't want to seem to precious either as I was with a local Korean (who is my direct report), so just grin and bear it. Going down later to make sure number is in booking at least I want get some points for the stay.

On the other hand Hilton in Seoul on Monday night, were extremely helpful (and of course as a gold upgraded me to Exec floor) it was such a contrast. As far as I am concerned A Club's only benefit is points. Anything else is a bonus.

Yep. Hilton seem really proactive about Hhonoring their elites (hehe!) I'm not really interested in A|Club points myself, will probably move them straight into an airline FF program, but was hoping to use the Plat status for at least a reasonable chance of an upgraded room.

All great saying it here, but have you given both the property and the program this feedback?

In order for them to get this right, they need to know where they are failing - so they can fix it.

If you don't tell them, how do you expect staff to get consistent & properly acknowledge their elite members to make staying at Accor worth their while.
