ANZ makes it harder to access sign-up bonus points

I'm having an issue with anz not paying the bonus. Approved 14th April but now they are saying 24months applies to me. It was definitely 12months when approved

Oh wow thats not great. I have messaged them in the ANZ App at 6am today and no reply as yet.

The chat said I needed to call, I have been speaking to some angry lady now saying I'm not eligible. The only option is send a complaint form which she's doing now apparently.

Thats frustrating. Did they offer to cancel the card and refund the annual fee?

Ok so my situation is a little bit different... I applied for an ANZ Rewards Black... I had a ANZ Frequent Flyer Black under 12 months ago. I used the chat function in the ANZ App and the agent told me that the cards are different families and I am okay as the terms and conditions changed effective 2 May 2025.. so its going to be interesting what happens when I hit the minimum spend...

Oh man! Same boat here, I was pretty sure it was not 24 months when I applied. Will need to call up tomorrow, as I didn't get the points either and thought it was a few weeks' delay.

I finally got a message back saying I will receive them thankful. You should be all good if you were approved before may 2nd

Thanks — I’ll need to get onto them first thing tomorrow. I guess our memory served us well — we both remembered it as 12 months!

I keep an Excel spreadsheet of what cards I've held, how many points it awarded and the date I closed the card.

Any cards within a blackout period I highlight in red - Sadly more of them are in the red now.

But as I mentioned in an earlier post, I'll be keeping my current 2 cards (one NAB Rewards and the other ANZ Frequent Flyer) as I have trips booked on those and I'd like to hold onto them just in case I need to cancel (for refunds) / for the travel insurance.

Ahhhhh I looked at the end of last month and bit the bullet last week and got the card. By chance I came across this discussion. I either cancelled 23 or 25 months ago! 🫠 just shot them a message, otherwise what a waste of $400!

They just replied. I held a card 23.25 months ago :( I’ve asked if they can still honour as goodwill, otherwise to cancel before the fee hits as I haven’t used it yet. What a bummer!

Final update - card closed. Bugger! And 24 months till I qualify again.

I’ll try apply for a nab card, first I’ll check when I cancelled my last one, and then also an extra hit on my credit file might be an issue. Ohhhh welll.

Naww don't say that - whats done is done. I've applied for the NAB offer - if you sign in it's actually a bit better than ANZ. $100 discount for the life of the loan, 100k + 30k if you stay on.

Hi @Preston, I'm in a similar situation - my card was approved on 10th April and in my latest statement (which ticked me over the required spend) - no bonus points. The online chat told me that I need to wait three months after which they can assess my request (as "it generally takes up to 3 months for the reward points to be allocated"). Is this the same as your experience - how did you get over the 3 month delay?

Just call them and they sent a complaint form away. Took a couple days to come back

Just to put an end to mine, NAB approved mine within about 24 hours, didn't even end up asking for payslips which was odd to me, apple wallet was immediate and just waiting for physical card to be able to pay a tonne of bills! $100 off for life of the card, 100k I spend 6k in 3 months, and then the standard extra 30k on month 13.

I think i'll do the Citibank offer next, seems ok. What i've found is some of the banks have better offers if you first sign up for a free bank account. (Same was with Westpac, which declined me for some reason!)
