What have you found on a plane - in the seat pocket or elsewhere?

I noticed yesterday for the second time in 12 months an item found by a fellow PAX in the seat pocket, and again it was a camera.

This got me to thinking that being a regular flyer, 1 in every 60 or so flights taken there will be something found in a seat pocket in my immediate area(section of the aircraft). This then makes me think of the other "sectors" within the aircraft that are not in my immediate area and how often "stuff of value" is found in one of these seats.

I for one have left iPoddy in a seat pocket and recently left my Bose case in a seat pocket - iPoddy returned, case not. I have also left books (on purpose and by mistake) and have had a few "close calls" with phones and iPoddy...

Am I just careless or a typically over stressed, over worked, over travelled executive manager who's focus on the minor issues is disappearing...

I am interested in others experiences on this topic..

Mr!

I was once on a DJ flight where a laptop was found in the row behind me.

I guess there is a related question of "what have you accidentally left on a plane?" I've left behind some mini-CDs from an old MP3 player and a headphone double-adapter thingy.

I've nearly left behind my camera on a flight (two flights in a row actually :() - both times realised my mistake in the jetbridge, both times found by a FA. Lucky!

My best score was on a PER-MEL flight in 1989 on AN. It was a male adult entertainment periodical and I was 12. I remember it well!

I suspect I left some court documents in the seat pocket once. At least, on the plane was the last time I saw them and I couldn't find them again after that. Luckily they were publicly available documents and not confidential ones.

I frequently find used boarding passes in seat pockets, which can be interesting depending on where the plane has been.

I left my passport in a seat pocket once... didn't notice til I had transfered to the syd intl terminal ....

Passport! Nasty!

Mrs Cyclogenesis left her jacket complete with wallet and phone on a MEL-SYD city flyer service...

Full marks to QF staff who checked her wallet looked up my details and called my mobile while we were still waiting for luggage!

I found a several year old Qantas inflight magazine in my seat pocket once... I think someone had it sitting at home, and as a prank decided to place it on a plane. I handed it to the FA, and just got this very weird look...

I found 20c in a seat pocket once. Most of the time it is just old boarding passes.

May I ask what a phone and IPod are doing in an aircraft seat pocket?

I cannot leave anything valuable out of sight. People who leave wallets, keys, phones, iPods laying around are simply asking for trouble....

I also can't imagine leaving my personal items anywhere but my pockets.

Found some boarding passes.

I can't remember the last time I wasn't in a bulkhead seat or exit row, so I haven't found anything in a seat pocket.

I did leave half a bottle of duty free Bacardi on a plane from NRT to SFO though once. It had served it's purpose and we were going to Vegas ultimately so it was kind of supurfluous.

I haven't found anything of interest, just old boarding passes etc. Some lucky person found my new PDA several years ago, and they kept it

I should leave the latest Virgin Blue magazine in the seat pocket of my next Qantas flight. ;)

The only thing I found was a black Jetstar blanket, I use it to cover the laptop.

BP's are common - remember one of the first times many many years ago when I was QFF Blue I found a Gold member's BP. I envisaged how nice it must be to be Gold ...:p

An item I found a use for was on a BA flight from BKK back to SYD; someone had left unopened red wine mini bottle in the pocket; it complimented the other few I consumed that evening.

Somehow I lost my passport midflight on a EK flight between CHC and SYD about 18 months ago - this made for a very interestng conversation with SYD immigration officials. EK said it may have fallen "into" the seat and due to it's mechanical nature was unable to be retrieved. Lucky for me immigration let me in instead of turning me around (im a NZ citizen). Never got the passport back and I was spewing (it was almost filled up with stamps!!).

On another occasion, on a LX flight between ZRH and DXB, I realised I had left my wallet in my seat in the J cabin - I was half way to immigration when I realised, and a mad run back to the aircraft ensued. Somehow I had managed to make it up the airbridge and up to the door, where the FA grabbed it for me. Close call - very lucky indeed....

...now I have a OCD-esque paranoia about me when holding anything of value when flying...

I've left my wallet on the plane once (PER-BME), luckily everything in Broome is only 5 minutes from the airport, so it was rather easy to turn around and pick it up (QF called me to let me know).

The other time was coming back from MEL, I left my iPod in the seat pocket after a few too many reds

Realised 2 days later, rang QF and luckily they were able to locate it for me.

I left some Sprinkles cupcakes in the overhead compartment, and only remembered when we were collecting our bags in MEL

We heard our lovely F Flight Attendant calling our names, and she had bought the cupcakes in the large box to us :mrgreen:

Could be fun to do that just for a laugh some day :)

i recently flew a few AA flights whilst in the US and CA.... 2 of which flights found things in the seat pockets... the more valuable of the two was a set of shure noise canceling earphones ( of which i sadly returned to the flight attendant, i just couldnt on good conscious keep something that had been stuck in another persons ear)....

the second item was if anything quite disgusting... i pulled out the american way magazine to find a smelly, wet ( what looked to be very used) condom stuck to the bottom! this was on a 767.... you can imagine the reaction the flight attendants got when i asked them to ' make it disapear'

:):):)

I once left my video camera on a QF flight at OOL, under the seat in front of me. The QF cleaning and luggage staff were fantastic - they found the camera, looked up my details based on the seat number and called my mobile all before I left the airport.
