What have you found on a plane - in the seat pocket or elsewhere?

I found 20c in a seat pocket once. Most of the time it is just old boarding passes.

May I ask what a phone and IPod are doing in an aircraft seat pocket?

I cannot leave anything valuable out of sight. People who leave wallets, keys, phones, iPods laying around are simply asking for trouble....

It usually happens when I am asleep, seat belt sign on and a FA wakes me telling me to turn off iPoddy

The Bose come off from my ears, and iPoddy and headphones are tucked into the seat pocket with a mental note to retrieve... I usually fall right back to sleep about that stage!

Mr!

I found a several year old Qantas inflight magazine in my seat pocket once... I think someone had it sitting at home, and as a prank decided to place it on a plane. I handed it to the FA, and just got this very weird look...

You obviously got the blame for that one. Another joker, thought the FA.

I've left my PDA in the seatpocket of a CX flight from TPE to HKG - I rang CX from the hotel and picked it up the following morning when checking in for my HKG-MEL flight the following morning :D.

Half asleep, I left my camera bag (containing still and video) in a Qantas overhead locker while being forced to de-plane in LA on a Sydney/New York flight. Realized as I hit the end of the aerobridge and tried to get back onto the plane but wasn't allowed. Reported it immediately, passed security, waited impatiently in the QP, to be told "the cleaners couldn't find it".
I promptly made matters worse by buying new ones, forgetting that video cameras sold in the US record in NTSC format instead of PAL even though they used the same Digital Tapes. DUH.
Now can only watch the tapes from that particular trip by playing back through the camera to TV. Shame as I did a 20 leg LONE that included Panama!!

Mate, there's 100's of places that will convert NTSC to PAL for next to nothing - in fact, I bought a video in card for my desktop a while back ($100 or so) and I am sure it accepts NTSC input (which would then allow me to save to DVD in PAL format)

PM me if you want some help

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Also, I'm pretty sure if you made a digital copy, even without doing any editing or special effects, you can save it in pretty much whatever format you like. And have it on a DVD.

I also can't imagine leaving my personal items anywhere but my pockets.

Found some boarding passes.

Unless your a bit on the meaty side like me. Anything left in my pockets and the recline button gets inadvertantly pressed and is generally very uncomfortable on a long flight.

My pockets are empty when i sit down.

If the camera can be connected to a computer through USB/Firewire (It should if it takes DV tapes)

You can then convert it to any format you like, including DVD

The only interesting thing i have found was on a Melbourne/Canberra flight and was a boarding pass.

The persons title was "DMR" and the comments section it said "CL oneworld emerald.."

I assume DMR stood for Department of main Roads and CL was Chairmans Lounge.

The seat was in economy which i figured was odd for CL

NTSC -> PAL conversion as above doesn't work - I've tried it. The project was VHS tape to DVD. Sure I got video and sound -- but the video was black and white. NTSC -> PAL is a particularly tricky conversion it seems - the colour signal is the hard part. I did a bit of research into it and it's impossible to do properly at a domestic level. It requires professional equipment to be done successfully.

In my number 1 job a common thing left behind in seat pockets for blokes is wallets and mobiles/blackberrys etc. Some of these items have also been in the pockets of jeans and have slipped out on to the seat.

Personally in light of how often this happens I do not put anything of value or anything I would be lost without in a seat pocket. Plenty of half read books are also a regular find.

Not as many ladies seem to lose things probably because they have handbags to put their stuff in. For men there are some quite masculine 'manbags' these days that are ideal for carrying these items. A small back pack is also ideal for wallet, keys & mobiles in and probably best kept under the seat in front of you or the overhead locker if you think you'll remember it.

Do not ask your significant other to put it in their handbag - we already have enough stuff of our own to deal with! :D :D

Other finds are boxes of Krispy Kreme donuts (flights ex SYD) which pax always remember before they leave the airport. :( :( Last night someone had forgotten a box full of lollies and chocolates in a plastic bag which they had tied to the metal rung of their seat - out of sight out of mind. It also had their wallet in it. Lucky they remembered their seat number & item was retreived promptly.

never really found anything on the plane seats, mind you, I never try to look or fish in the plane :D

I lost quite a number of reading glasses and hair thingy (clips), but since I bought cheapo reading glasses to take on the plane, I hardly lost it again

I concur. When I sit the pockets are empty or I feel I may not fit.

The only interesting things I have found are boarding passes, a couple from celebs and a few pollies.

I usually leave read newspapers in seat pockets. Especially on LCCs where the pockets are probably not cleared after each sector. It's my way of paying it forward by giving the next passenger something extra to read especially if the flight is going back to where I came from (they can read today's paper before they arrive).

I will also admit to leaving a Virgin Blue magazine hidden in the seat pocket on a Tiger flight :p

Not in a seat pocket but I left my iPod in the BA first class lounge. It was nearly closing time and I remembered as soon as I boarded the plane. Hostess called the lounge for me but it wasn't there - it had been nicked within 15 mins.

I've found nothing of real interest or value so far.

Leaving things, yep a few times.

Ipod, earphones, duty free purchases are a few that come to mind. Luckily I've always had the items returned to me or at least logged by someone and a call made to the mobile.

God bless honest people!
