Vinomofo Wine Deals

Re: mof_ SECRET DEAL Shiraz 2007

I am a member of Vinomofo not sure where you get the links. My response was to qaz

You made a comment "checking back on other wineries seems 2009 onwards is better vintages from WA".

Qaz was pointing out that the Langtons vintage chart shows that both 2007 and 2009 were generally pretty good vintages from WA. Check the chart here: https://www.langtons.com.au/media/pdf/VintageChart.pdf

Sorry for any offence i am a newbie. I also check vintage reports but through state reports. Its also like 2009 most critics put it just ahead of 2011 yet I agree with Beefarmer- I have many 2009 wines in the cellar. Langtons is a good guide but so are individual state reports.

I saw this as well, but the cellar life didn't quite match Hallidays which the Fo tend to use, so it through me a little. Either way I took a punt and will be happy enough whatever turns up.

I too took the punt. Not being a big Chardonnay drinker I hope it's correct...

+1 for the black market Chardonnay.
Wish could get only 6 but for this price I'm tempted to try, if not good can always return...

Can someone help with todays black market cabernet from McLaren Vale - I seem to recall it may have been up recently but my search of $8.90 Cabernet Sauvignon McLaren Vale did not give me an answer

Just noticed that I missed the Bit O'Heaven Think Outside the Circle Cab Sav, which was advertised (and identified here) late Jan. I've been looking to try this one for a while now.

I hope they bring it back. Can any experienced mof_s comment on when we *might* see this one return, if at all? Thanks!

Late reply, but I'm pretty sure this one from Kemeny's that was advertised yesterday is the same wine:

https://kemenys.com/go.jsp?utm_sour...&mc_eid=2638b1aad0#!class=Product&spn=1111774

It might come with the original label or with one of their "Secret" labels.

'ee was right, 'ee was.
Yes, I received Louis today at noon. I am quite keen to sample this one, albeit the thing is really not meant to be drank when it really is in its' nappies. Or so say the makers. The lineage is impeccable as we have read and researched so I hope it lives up to expectations. It will obviously be compared with its 'drink now' Brothers and Sisters cabernet 2014. Saying that, 'drink now' does not mean that the B&S will not last 6-10years. It surely will.It is the style in making it.

Back to the concept of expectations as I have a recent example. One of the West Oz wineries, namely Churchview sold their Bartondale Cabernet 2012 thru the 'Fo. Normally about sixty dollars (like this King Louis), I had my only one and although I liked it, it didn't come across as being worth the money over their thirty five dollar St Johns range. Expectations were not exceeded unfortunately. At twenty a bottle, you can't compaln. This brings me to the regal King Louis. Expectations are great again for this one, perhaps more so considering how wonderful the Brothers and Sisters is.

I expect sigmadelta and myself to give a few tasting notes in the next week.

Further to my telephone conversation last week, I believe the gals at FG are working on a super premium Cab. Something to usurp the King. I call this marketing, more hands on and more spending on better barrels. Who really knows ? I mentioned McGuigans are or have been working on a hundred and fifty bucker super premium. The proof is in the pudding. Sorry only Wozza with his immaculate taste buds can discern this wine characteristic. More like the proof is in the tasting.

I will leave you with a famous line pertaining to the magnificent wines that Fox Gordon produce.( I know recent Hannah's Swings have polarized folks a little). The King is dead, long live the King.

Yes, the King is in the house! And it arrived on the same day as my Maverick twins. Very auspicious. Coincidence - I don't think so. I'm very excited to see how the King compares to the Brothers and Sisters. You can expect Sir Delectable to have a few words to share on this matter as well. :)

Looking forward to all the learned opinions…
As I only have 6 (still coming to the outer reaches of the universe.. ake brisvegas) if the reviews are effusive, I will be able to enjoy one vicariously and cellar them all.

Well I have a glass of the Louis in front of me. We finished off a bottle of the B&S from a couple of evenings ago, so I can compare the two. Good planning or what?
Anyhow... my impressions. A slightly smoky aroma a little reticent but not too surprising given the 13.7% alcohol. The palate is cassis fruit all the way, much longer and riper than its siblings, a little more tannic but not overwhelmingly so. It can go a long time in the cellar, more than a decade I think, but the low profile tannins mean that I am happy to drink it now. I'm glad to have this, but will likely keep the other 5 until much later. Thanks to beefarmer for the heads up ;-)

I'll be checking in on the bottle again in a couple of days' time.

PS I think I had better leave the more subtle features to others who are better attuned to the cabernet than I am. I'm more of a riesling and pinot noir fanatic :->
