Vinomofo Wine Deals

It's been 3 weeks that I have 2 cases waiting for a courier from Cellarmasters. I got my refund straight away but still no sign of the courier. I called them once to told them 'Hey guys, thanks for the refund but no ones picked up the wine yet' (Dolan Langhorne Creek Shiraz btw...) but they don't seem in hurry to get it back...

As for VM, I returned a case once (Golden Lion Shiraz: Yak...) and within a week the courier came and I got a credit on my account.

Happy to advise that VM have now processed a refund regardless of the courier pick up. I have mentioned the wine in question in a previous post.

Failed fine wine firm liquidated

22nd October, 2015 by Neal Baker

A British wine investment company, Prestige Fine Wine, has been forced into provisional liquidation as part of an ongoing investigation by UK authorities.

FineWineCellarThe company presented itself as a fine wine investment business specialising in Bordeaux wines. Its director has been named as Mr Ibrahim Tarkou, of Croydon, England. According to online records, Tarkou is 24 years old.

Its website declares that its offices are based in Pall Mall, Westminster, one of the most expensive commercial areas in the UK. However, the Insolvency Service, which is investigating the company, has placed its registered offices in Purley Way, Croydon.

Prestige Fine Wine also claims on its website that it has the experience of “over 25 years in the fine wine collection industry”, but the company was only registered on 5 March 2010.

The company has been contacted by the drinks business for comment.

The case will now be passed to the High Court, with an announcement expected on 16 December.

I remember affers discussion on the Australian failure of a similar venture which enabled some to grab some bargains. Does anyone remember their best purchases?

Cracked open a Mitolo last night. Left it open for a few hours then poured through an aerator and was a perfect "end of week" red with a bowl of slow cooked pork ragu. A little plummy, a little spicy, but not too heavy. Wouldn't pay $68 but for $20 I'm perfectly happy.

It struck me last night after polishing off a bottle of the Mitolo that it reminded me very much of the Sisters Run Shiraz 2013 (a good thing) but probably worth about as much (~$18-20).

So I should pick mine up from the "mail room", and move the case to the cellar? :p

I took a bottle to a friends place last weekend and was embarrassed by it. Just didnt stack up against French examples at the same price point.

A common theme with Aussie sparkling - Plenty of okay options, but several reliable NV Champagnes at the $40-$60 price point are consistently good, so why mess with a winning formula?

FWIW, some Aussie bubbles are excellent for "something different", but struggle against the famous frogs :p

Any thoughts on the 2012 Merlot ($30 -> $9). All the 94 pointers I can find are all from 5 Star wineries, which VM usually highlights (but not in this case). I must be missing something...

The Epiphany (they have two varieties)? I liked the Epiphany once it opened up a little. Could be had for $10 (or less) at First Choice recently.

Start another thread please - as this has nothing to do with Vinomofo. Thanks

possibly twelve bucks at vintage cellars.....in their latest dogalogue I believe. Could have been the cab though. I had an epiphany in early august. twas the 13 shiraz and it was good for about thirteen.

Re: Vinomofo Offer Helen and Joeys Layla Pint Noir 2013

Hi all Pinophiles. I note that this wine has been offered for some time.I have searched for opinions or reviews with only limited success. I think Beefarmer commented favourably in a post some time ago.
Any comments to assist my purchasing decision would be appreciated. In their VM price ranges, I have recently enjoyed the Duck Sauce 2014 and the Riposte En Garde. A well cellared 1997 Mt Mary Pinot was developed, but drinking beautifully. It confirmed the longevity potential of some Oz pinots. Thanks in advance for your opinions.

I haven't been following long enough to know if a previous vintage has been offered, but the winery has featured before (if my guess is correct). Will be passing on this one (I've already got the Innocent Bystander and Willoughby Park Shiraz on the way for this week - that's enough.)

Yeah it was the Epiphany. It was $18 when I picked it up at 1st Choice but now I see it's available for a less elsewhere. Pretty outstanding if you got it for $10.
