Vinomofo Wine Deals

I hadn't looked until today, but it seems I've qualified to give 10 invites, maybe expiring today also.

PM me your email address if you want an invite.
I'm out tonight from about 6:30 pm AEST at a function so get in before then or I won't be able to get to it.

Update: Only 2 left now and I've cleared my PM inbox...

Lion Wine division, Fine Wine Partners has been sold to Accolade, this may have some implications to the operation of the Den.

Anyone tried the Maverick Breechens? We've enjoyed the Shiraz and cab... but I expect we'll be seeing a lot of their stock if the winery is being sold!

I'd be curious to hear any reports because at $8.90 it's certainly not a bank-breaker (VM have got their "selling crazy fast" hustle going which is probably not too far from the truth...)

edit: just had a quick look at reviews for the wine if not the vintage and Nicks were somewhat unflattering in their 84 points and description I must say (it was the 2012 though)

"Opaque black purple colour with a dark purple red hue. On the nose oily shearing shed like aromas are hard to overcome with hints of dark cherry, liquorice and earth also present. Showing more appeal the medium weight palate has flavours of dark plum, apricot, liquorice, meaty earth like characters and spice. Velvet smooth tannins. Aftertaste of dark plum, apricot, meaty characters, earthy cedar and spice.Drink now.
Alc 12.8%"

> Do you mean price/quantity or quality sigma? I bought the Ulithorne Familia Shiraz 2015 this year and really struggled to like it, in fact I sent it back to be honest, for a purported $40 RRP wine it was plain boring, others on the forum agreed, a few said they thought it was fine but it wasn't a good intro to the winery for me!

Neither - it was more of a note about how sometimes a lot of high end wines on VM from a particular winery can indicate that something's afoot.

Point taken....( I guess in the case of the Familia the high-end aspect was for me, purely notional!)

Hi All
With this new amex offer, is there a way to split payments over at vinomofo?
cheers

I don't think so.

You might be able to do it by phone. But the offer says phone orders are excluded.

I'd be happy to buy a $60 gift card and use it later. But I don't think they sell them anymore.

Sticking my neck out here but I think the 2015 straight Cab Sav blitzed both the Cab blend and the GSM, half tempted to grab another case before they're gone....lovely wine.

A sharp price using the $30 amex statement credit to boot

Free $30 for anyone with an Amex card:

What is the AMEX email...an invitation to apply ?

If you have an amex card (bank issued or direct with American Express you can enrol it via mini2's link and then when you spend $60 or more at VM you will get a statement credit of $30-. They usually send an email confirming you spent the money within seconds of the transaction.

Been wondering about the Trial Hill myself... Can anyone shed any light on this?

Would happily split a case if anyone in Perth is interested??

Check out The Warlock's post from yesterday in 'Nice Wines I've drunk recently' thread where he discusses maverick's sister grenache to the Trial Hill, Ahrens Creek. That might give you a feel for the ballpark you're in with these wines - but in a word they could be described as 'powerful'. Not that i've had the Trial Hill, but at 16% alc it'll also be a big hitter. I do wonder if coming from the trial hll vineyard right near the top of the Eden Valley that they might be a tad softer/more elegant. If it was at $30ish I'd do it in a flash, but that's not to say it won't be worth it at $50. If anyone booms in Sydney and wants to trade a bottle or two of trial hill for Ahrens Creek, let me know. They might make for an interesting paired tasting!
