Velocity Shop and (NOT) earn

to give you all a closure - I did not get my expected 6248 points

but got 2000 points instead

Basically, I got another phone call today from Velocity saying that Apple's Store terms and conditions at the time of purchase were excluding iPhones from accruing any points but as a good-will gesture I'm getting 2000 points

well, there is no way for me to check whether it was the case as the terms and conditions have changed so I suppose I have to bite the bullet, thank Velocity and shut up. :(:(:(

Now I look like a complete idiot who does read the fine print. Though I swear I did and don't remember seeing anything like that...but I'm not prepared to go any futher

Just wanted to say thanks to the Velocity rep here once again, it was nice of him/her to step in and help:D

No need to say that, just sorry we couldn't have had this fixed sooner!

The period was between 9 June 2010 – 1 March 2011 where iphones weren't applicable. Similar to now, where ipads aren't eligible.

Cheers

I had the same issue with an iPad. They weren't eligible. They were eligible. They weren't eligible. I actually got a slightly hilarious email from velocity quoting about 4 different contradictory terms and conditions (with no dates on them but i am sure they were telling me the truth) and a note explaining that because my purchase was xx_ that the third one applied. It is frustrating.

I am now two months into getting points on a macbook air. We'll see whether they ever turn up i guess.

Hrmmm. I just got an Email from Velocity saying the points from the laptop bag I purchased from Apple.com mid Feb have been approved.

I recieved 242 points for a $99 purchase. Lucky me for the few bonus points?

The matching MacBook air, costing above $2,000, is nowhere in sight. I doubt I'll see those points...

Maybe Virgin's telling me I need to fly more? ;)

Interesting .. I just got a few myself too.

From March .. but the ones from November for eBay still are still sitting there.

I just got notification that about 5,000 points from my new MacBook air from a couple of months ago have been approved too - although i did prompt them a few days ago after this thread reminded me to. Still, i can only assume that someone is on the case there about the shop and earn bottlenecks.

I think this is the case - someone (I even know who) has done something to make them take their bums off chairs and do some work;)

I think they should actually review their customers' accounts themselves on a regular basis to see what's been sitting there as pending for longer than 2 months (this is how long it should take in theory to get your pending points either approved or rejected) and follow it up - it's a standard accounting practice to look at ageing transactions regularly. Not sure whether Velocity Shop and Earn do not have this policy (if they don't, they really should adopt it) or it is just lazy bums in their call centre somewhere far far away that simply don't do it but this is something that would help change the current situation when the onus is on us to chase up our pending points

It really surprises me to hear these (and I read the other thread a while back) bad experiences with Velocity.

I have NEVER had a problemm with getting my points (all my points) in a timely fashion from Velocity.

Whether they be from the Apple Store, Betts, StrawberryNet, Dominos, Yes, Telstra Shop - you name it - if I could buy it through Velocity I did and got the extra points.
The changes with Apple were very clear -it is why I didn't/haven't bought an iPad through Velocity and have my name on two waiting lists (BigW and ****Smith). Also, don't forget there is a maximum cap on the number of points you can receive in any one transaction.

While I am currently focusing on the Red Roo, I still buy through Velocity for many purchases (especially makeup, shoes, handbags and sunglasses) as I can go to the store, try stuff on, then log on back at home and gain points for buying what I was going to buy anyway - without having to lug it back up the hill home, as in most cases I get free delivery.

As far as I am concerned, Velocity > QFF program for earning points on semi regular purchases.

Hi guys,
Just wanted to reiterate the process with ShopandEarn:

After you have made a purchase via ShopandEarn you should see your points as ‘Pending’ in your ShopAndEarn transaction history within 24 hours. Depending on the retailer it can take between 30 and 60 days to approve each purchase. Once the purchase has been approved by the retailer, your points will be set to ‘Approved’. Please always follow the ShopAndEarn process and read all Terms & Conditions on the retailer’s page when shopping to ensure your purchase is valid and that you receive your points.

If your pending transactions are not resolved after the 60 day period, please do raise this with our contact centre via email, who will look into where the delay might be.

Hope this helps!

Thanks

Thanks for the update Virgin. I'm guessing that Apple approves the purchases in a batch, explining why we all got approved at the same time.

I had to order a few computers for work from dell.com ..... Then I realised I can order it through shop and earn.... Am I a bad person for claiming the points myself? :p

Definitely not! Wherever possible, I've started buying anything that we need for work using my personal CC via the shop and earn store, then claiming it back :D

Re: Velocity Shop and NOT Earn

Hi

I'm not sure if this issue happens to you, I did a purchase on the 27/4/11 but the points did not show in the pending list, does that mean I won't get that points at all? I have PM the Velocity Rewards but no replied. Anyway had the same experience?
This often happens to me for purchases from Dell, Domino's, Bigpond Music and a few others... I always forward copies of the invoices to Virgin along with telling them the transaction details manually in an email, and they are always very happy to assist and enter a points claim. The only downside to doing this is that manual claims don't show in your ShopAndEarn transaction list until the points are posted, but they do arrive.

I first discovered how to do this when Dell had not allocated >5000 points for a new laptop that I bought, but was then able to claim back. In each instance, I did always click the ShopAndEarn link (they can check your 'click history', so there's not much point in claiming it if you forgot to click)! :)

How long does it take to have customer service post the points? My husband made a Dell purchase in July, but it never showed in his transaction list. So he requested credit a few weeks later, sending in all the purchase information. No points appeared, so a couple of weeks ago he wrote them again, and they had him send his purchase information again, but they still haven't posted the points. In his account it shows that the last web site he visited was Dell, so it shouldn't be too much of a mystery that he made the purchase there with his cookies on, etc. etc. Now we need to make two more purchases (one with Apple and the other with Dell), and I'd love to get Velocity points for it, but I'm worried about going through all the trouble for nothing. Do you have a specific contact at Velocity customer service who can finally fix these missing credit problems? Any other suggestion?

I had the same situation as your husband, I'm waiting 2 transactions from ebay since Aug, emailed customer service and asked to send the approval which I did, then no more stories, no confirmation, no updating, I think sometimes it really depends on your luck to get those points allocated. I do get some points from a few suppliers but the waiting period is normally between 90-120 days not the same on their website up to 60 days.

Some interesting double point offers on offer!

I think their system is running worse and worse, nothing has changed since it's launched. I did 5 purchased through their shop & earn during last month and come up two transactions showing in my pending list with wrong number of points counted, and other 3 never show up.
