Velocity Shop and (NOT) earn

Re: Velocity Shop and NOT Earn

I made an ebay purchase on Sunday, as usual there is no sign of the transaction on the shop and earn website. This time I took screenshots of everything so hopefully it can be resolved easily, but I would be more interested in having a system that works than getting 150 points.

Re: Velocity Shop and NOT Earn

Ebay points from a month ago just appeared as pending - I think the 24 hour thing is way too optimistic.

Re: Velocity Shop and NOT Earn

I've given up on shopandearn, and largely given up on Virgin Blue as a result of the awful customer service and failure to award points.

I had some success early in the program in obtaining points for purchases following alot of chasing. I've given up since, nothing posts regardless of the computer I'm on.

The shopandearn 'customer service' team never seemed too interested in assisting, so I subsequently am not too interested in participating and flying with them unless I have to. A great example of where these schemes can backfire unless the operator is truly committed to them!

The last straw was a recent menulog purchase. I thought I'd give shopandearn a go with my last 3 orders after not bothering for a year or so - nothing posted to velocity.

Re: Velocity Shop and NOT Earn

I can totally empathise with you, though personally I wouldn't give up on an airline because some points weren't posting! As has been mentioned previously the member Velocity Rewards is more than happy to help out if you PM him.

It's not about the points, it's the lack of customer service over a long period that left me bitter about the whole organisation. I'm not generally one for whinging and complaining but they blew it with me ;-)

I've got some flights in April (free flights!) so they have a chance to redeem themselves.

Re: Velocity Shop and NOT Earn

Velocity Rewards helped me out with getting missing points, which is appreciated, but this has been going on for years and the system still doesn't work reliably. Is anyone looking into what is causing the problems rather than just fixing them on a case by case basis?

I'm unable to send/reply to PM's so Velocity Rewards, please accept this as my public reply to your recent PM :)

You'll be pleased to know the family's recent flights with Virgin Blue were fantastic and worry free (and even better because they were free!). From check in, to handling oversize baggage, boarding and the great staff on the plane I must say I'm impressed with the professionalism and customer focus of the outfit these days. I was stridently and loudly anti-Virgin Blue for a while after having some sour experiences years ago.

And thank you for your proactive, postitive contact via private message. Don't worry about the shopandearn points - the damage was done with previous encounters with the team. But your initiative, together with the recent flight experience is enough for me to give you guys a chance - you might have just won yourselves some business from the big red roo if these experiences are indicative of a professional, customer focussed culture change.

Cheers and thanks.

Re: Velocity Shop and NOT Earn

I've noticed that points seems to show up slowly, esp with ebay.

Recently had a frangranceX transaction which went from pending to approved yet the points never appeared in my balance.

I still use S&E, but it certainly doesn't make me more positive about VB.

Maybe they should look at how moneybackco operate. I've rarely had an issue with them recording transaction, and tend to use them as the earn rate is generally at least twice what you get with S&E, and heck I'll tack $$$$ over points any day

Re: Velocity Shop and NOT Earn

wxxnxs,

I suggest you send a PM to Velocity Rewards as he suggested. Include all the details and he will follow up for you.

Hi

I'm not sure if this issue happens to you, I did a purchase on the 27/4/11 but the points did not show in the pending list, does that mean I won't get that points at all? I have PM the Velocity Rewards but no replied. Anyway had the same experience?

Velocity Shop and NOT earn - waiting for 7 months

I thought I might describe my not so great experience in dealing with Velocity Shop and Earn support team that had driven me to a point of madness...
I have just sent a complaint via their feedback form on the website as I honestly thing they need to do something about their call centre and the level of customer service they provide.

Here's what I wrote:

"Dear Sir or Madam,

Having had 6248 points earned for a purchase on 08/09/2010 through Apple Store and not seeing them as posted on my account (they were showing as pending for 7 months), I contacted Velocity Rewards call centre on 19/04/2011 to enquire as to why they were still showing as pending.
I was told there was some concern as to whether my purchase actually had taken place and was asked to email a proof of purchase to the customer service agent. I duly obliged and sent a copy of my Apple Store receipt and shipping notice the same day by email.
Having heard nothing by 02/05/2011, I gave your call centre another call to only hear that my email had been lost. I re-sent it straight away and was then told it would take 10 days to sort it all out.
Today I got a phone call from your call centre saying something to the point "the date on your receipt is not the same as the date of purchase on your account so you are not getting the points". The girl ringing hardly spoke any English and I could not understand what she was saying so I asked her to get someone who speaks English to give me a call later. After another hour or so I got a voicemail message to call back - I did and spoke to a guy who said that indeed the dates were different. After talking to him for a while, I realised that your wonderful customer service team members were referring to another, prior purchase of an iPad that I had on 21/08/2010 and got points for. They did not even realise that I had been asking for points for another, later transaction that I had sent the receipt for!!!! How is that possible??? Can they read? It is all very simple - pending points showing for the 08/09/2010 transaction, the copy of the receipt shows the date of 08/09/2010 - what else does a person who can read needs?? In the mean time, the points now show as cancelled.
After realising what happened the customer service guy said that this was going to take some more time to sort out and he wanted me to re-send the email with the receipt copy again. At this stage I had run out of patience as we were back to stage 1 of the whole affair and asked to talk to a supervisor. It took another 5 mins to speak to Suresh who said he was the only supervisor available and could not do very much other than look at the email (that I had then resent once again to him - the 4th time) and tell me to wait one more day. It is all too long and frustrating! Please help!"

By the time I sent the above I had actually cooled down a bit otherwise it would've been much angrier...can you imagine this - you wait for 7 months, then give them a call, follow the instructions only to hear that things get lost, things need time and finally hear that I was not getting any points because they were not intelligent enough to make a distinction between an iPad (purchased on 21/08, points all received) and 2 iPhones (purchased on 08/09, points not received, proof of purchased sent, shows the same date on it, shows the goods were shipped etc).

All this looks to me like horrible incompetence and bureaucracy...dealing with overseas call centres has never been easy but to come across such idiocy as to mixing up two different transactions that had in common only one thing - Apple Store - and cancelling the points even before speaking to me, this is my first

needless to say I will think twice before buying anything through Shop and Earn in the future

I know how you feel,

I ordered a $2200 MacBook Air from the Shop & Earn store, never recieved my points. Apparently although it showed as pending, the transaction between Apple & Velocity never happened, no record was found.

As much as I would have liked the 6600(?) points... I gave up, they said since there was no link made between Apple & Shot & Earn, there was no way to prove I purchsed it from Shop & Earn.

I doubt I'll ever see those points. Its not worth the fight.

Completely understand your frustration. I had a transaction verified (ie got past the pending stage) and still waited five months and five phone calls before the points turned up. Needless to say I have not bothered chasing any other missing points and have completely given up on trying to use it again.

I have to say that almost much every time i've used them it's been a nightmare. It's an area that needs a lot of improvement.

Actually this whole thread has just reminded me that i have about 5000 outstanding points from a recent apple store purchase that never turned up but i don't think i can face the trauma of even asking Velocity about it. It's a Kafkaesque nightmare once you even start to enquire.

Not sure if they should do what Tiger has just done - get rid of an overseas call centre and do everything online but by an Australian based team

My experience with overseas call centres - I have dealt with a few including Optus and AAPT but that's another story;) - has been that those drones they've got answering phone calls are very poorly trained and can't make any decisions on their own. As soon as the problem is escalated to someone in Australia it normally gets resolved very quickly. I suppose you get great cost savings in paying not very much to staff in India or wherever Velocity call centre is but damage you do to your customers having to go through all the things described above far outweighs the cost savings

Is it the same processing area as general Velocity points? It's the same sort of frustration I had chasing points through them before, with things getting lost, delayed repeatedly, and confused and muddled up.

One wonders if each of these points come out of their pockets or their KPIs have points deducted from them or something. Surely it can't be that hard to link a given transaction and see if it appears on the statement. As for things getting "lost" it's just poor form. The one receiving it should be empowered to act on it, but there doesn't seem traceability on these items so it's far easier to 'lose' something than for it to be tracked and dealt with properly.

I use two different affiliate type websites. One based in Australia, one based in the UK.

Both track and pay reliably 95% of the time. I think someone needs to review their affiliate networks and payment systems.

BTW, why would you use Shop and Not Earn when you could use sites like Cashback Deals, Promotion Codes, Coupon Codes, Online Shopping Bargains - Moneybackco.com.au and get cash instead of the poor points that Shop and Not Earn gives? (Note a yearly fee does apply from your commission).

A few examples:
25 Velocity points or 50c rebate (Dominos order).
4 Velocity points/$ or 7.5% rebate (Amart Allsports).
2825 Velocity points or $40 (Iselect)
120 Velocity points or $2.50 (Quotify removals quote)
