Well, they missed the 4 weeks.

Looks like they will need to compensate me by making me platinum

(On the plus side, I do have a shiny new Qantas card, as that review has happened in the meantime!)

Aha! My mistake trying to match to that obscure offshore FF program run by Qantas

At this rate it will probably be the only thing NOT offshored by Qantas :)

For those matched in silver, I received one luggage tag and wire yesterday. I emailed them a couple of weeks ago when only the silver card came. From the letter it looks like you might have to contact them to get the silver tags, as the letter started "Following your recent enquiry, please find enclosed...."

So they dont come automatically, unlike the Gold/Plat which do.

I am now at T + 4 weeks + 1 day, so I rang them up. The Velocity rep hunted around for my email but didn't seem able to find it, but when I offered to go through the process again he said that if I received an acknowledgement (which I did) I should wait a little bit longer.

Interesting that my Qantas Gold status expires in Oct, and I sent a scan of the old card before I got renewed until 2012 a couple of weeks back. I wonder if the longevity of your current status is a factor in who they chose? The annoying thing is I applied for the match and then told my colleagues about it (naturally), but they have all been matched and I am the only Virgin wallflower in the village!

My VFF Platinum package arrived today:

VFFCards.jpg

With 1 VFF Platinum card and 3!!! VFF Platinum baggage tags. Plus the one I was given when I signed up in the Mel VA lounge. That make me the proud owner of 4 VFF baggage tags. Too bad I almost never travel with check-in bags.

Now to check out a few top tier Etihad F lounges! And of course VA's top tier F / WP Oz lounge when they build it.

I'm in the same boat. It was an October 2011 on my card, so perhaps that was a factor. Some of the folk I told about it got matched in a week.

When I did my status match (in person), my QF Platinum card said until Oct 2011 (I've since received my Oct 2012 card). My Virgin account online was showing Platinum in 2 days.

Rolled over to Gold, a mere four flights before I would have made it anyway, but the temp card has seen me nicely through. 100% travel now booked on VA and looking forward to my first V Australia flight shortly.

I was a paid up lounge member of Virgin, so now to see if they will refund the unused portion as they would if you made gold under your own steam. Any status matches experienced this?

BIL achieved WP last week, no card yet but applied over the weekend with a .pdf of his online Activity Statement. Email acknowledgement received straight away.

Match was showing up on line Wednesday night and "Welcome Email" received yesterday afternoon.

A friend applied for Gold last week, matched on Monday. No Welcome Email yet.

P.S. He did do a Status Match to Silver first, in late August, and just recieved his silver card last week (without any welcome email).

At this point don't get ahead of yourself. Officially EY F lounge access is not a plat benefit. They did let me in though so let's just hope we're awaiting an announcement on that one. :)

Hey, I'll show them your statements :D and say talk to 777. ;)

Not a problem as most WPs do know how to talk very nice but still achieve the end game. ;) Should soon get my AA EXP card, so then I can hit them with 3 x top tier FFer cards and say DYKWIA? :D With a smile of course. When they asked, I'll say I'm TonyHancock...... the best DYKWIA in the business. Ryan Bingham's cousin

Well i got in on the exact opposite of doing a DYKWIA:

Me: Blearily arrive at Al Reem lounge desk. Fish around in wallet and pull out Plat card, "i think this means i am allowed to use this lounge"
Desk man: "I'm sorry, i will need to look that up." Starts making phone calls.
Me: "Oh, they it may not be in the system yet, Platinum is quite new. It should be just like VA Gold ... i can find my old gold card if that would help" <starts digging in wallet>
Desk man: "No, i am sorry i have called and checked ... you can not use this lounge."
Me: <grumble> "What if i got my gold card?"
Desk man: "Virgin Australia platinum can not use this lounge. No you should go to the Etihad desk and talk to them."
Me: <thought about starting an argument but trudge off disappointed > ... <Arrive at Etihad desk>
Me: "Apparently there's some sort of problem and they wouldn't let me at the Al Reem lounge" <again starts digging for my gold card and working into long winded expanation about how platinum is above gold>
EY Desk Man: "Yes Sir, we have been expecting you, that is because as a Velocity Platinum you are welcome to use our First class lounge if you are travelling by yourself or our business lounge if travelling with a guest"... doors magically open, waiters appear from everywhere, awesome food menu arrives and i'm explained the location of the cigar bar and the masseur.

Never even got to trying a DYKWIA. :)

Ditto here - passed the 4 week mark this afternoon (26 August submitted match from QF Gold and got acknowledgement email straight back). Logged in to my Velocity acount online just now and still showing as just 'member' :( It's frustrating that there doesn't seem to be any logic for the processing as everyone I know who submitted applications after me has been matched!

Reading the posts of those still waiting, I do get the feeling that there may be specific issues with applications that were submitted on the 26th... What should we do now that the 4 weeks has passed? Velocity rep?

Does anyone know of anyone actually being declined?

I think something is definitely wrong for those who have waited 4 weeks. My match, not long ago, took only three working days. I wonder if DJ just lost a whole lot of applications around that day.

If you've waited that long and others have been matched almost straight away, you have every right to be:mad: very cranky.

Date and time of status match application: Thu 25 Aug 18:04
Date and time of application receipt: Thu 25 Aug 18:08
Status match submitted: QF Gold

Although on Sunday a flight from SYD-CBR tipped me over to Platinum. So on Monday afternoon as soon as I saw the SC had posted I submitted an updated request with a screenshot of my Summary page.

Date and time of updated status match application: Mon 29 Aug 15:24
Date and time of updated application receipt: Mon 29 Aug 15:25
Status match submitted: QF Platinum

I've just logged in to my Velocity account and it is showing Gold with an expiry of 24 September 2012 so it appears the original application was processed at 4 weeks +1 day. Fingers crossed it will show Platinum in a few more days.

Thank you Virgin Australia :D

With all the Union stuff happening with Qantas we are now seriously booking Virgin flights for our business travel. nice work Qantas and good timing for this matching, Virgin! Now, could you please do a few more business timed flights for poor old Adelaide?:(
