Re: QF Y front row 747 - row 43 on new 3 Class config.

No photo, sorry, but as I said foot room is restricted. Knee room is great, so if you are under 5`8", say, you would probably be OK. Personally, I will stick with rows 24 or 25.

Re: QF Y front row 747 - row 43 on new 3 Class config.

I'm 183cm (6') and am flying to/from SIN later this year.

For the MEL-SIN flight I have 23B allocated as I don't intend to sleep so don't need to stretch out or recline.

On the return overnighter, I have 24B allocated as I will be reclining and would stretch out in an endeavor to sleep - I cannot do that in the first row.

Not a big fan of 23 on the A330, had last row a few weeks ago away from the bassinets, it was much better, CSM was bemused to find me there though, got great service from the adjacent galley with drink topping etc as well as first meal.

Makes sense, although you still lose 1/2" of width due to the in seat TV in 23, so my preference would be to avoid the row altogether, when travelling solo. A day flight, with Mrs_Orange and I would consider it, assuming they were available at T-80.

Re: QF Y front row 747 - row 43 on new 3 Class config.

I use to be a fan of row 23 on shorter routes (QF51 to SIN-BOM 4-5hours max). However now that the A330's are on main routes like SIN-MEL.etc. 7-8 hours in row 23 is just painful not being able to stretch the legs is torture.

Re: QF Y front row 747 - row 43 on new 3 Class config.

I find that the inability to stretch your legs out is too uncomfortable and painful to bear. I would go with row 24, especially on an overnight flight.

Re: QF Y front row 747 - row 43 on new 3 Class config.

Row 24 with out a doubt. Mrs Ansett was confused as to why I would not book row 23, its a bulkhead seat she would say more leg room and no recline, this was untill a recent trip to SIN on an A330, After seeing the seat she said phew would rather walk than be stick in those seats :D

She is learning well lol

I treat the day flight to Asia as a "Gold Class" visit to a cinema.

I get to watch several movies and am "fed and watered" while doing so - this easier in the front row.

It's a different story on the overnight returns.

Re: QF Y front row 747 - row 43 on new 3 Class config.

I'm travelling SYD-BKK return on A330 with my partner. What are the best pairs of seats to get? 24/25 AB? Are the exit rows any good on an A330 for a pair?

All the exit rows seats are where the toilets are, which I'm definitely not a fan of. There are really no good seats as such on the QF A330.

Getting back on topic (row 43 on 747 ;) )

Hmmm, looks up at thread title. Are you sure you're getting back ON topic ? ;)

My upgrade came through, so I'm in 2E now .

just flew 23A/B on SIN-MEL with my partner. found it fine. I put my wheelaboard in front of me and stuck my feet on top and rolled to the side and i was comfy enough.

Is that an overnight flight? No offence meant, but you must be well under 6' (183cm) to have found that comfortable.

The other thing is that if you choose to have dinner you have approx 4 hours remaining until top of descent into Melbourne, so it's really not that long a flight. I skip breakfast but if you have that then you have 2.5 hours of rest that's it.

I've answered my own question, here are some pics from a recent QF23/24 trip:

I also accidentally quoted this thread , was supposed to link to this one below (forgot if I posted in this other thread on the same topic)

Personally I would take row 23 in a heartbeat. I had a WP shadow on QF23 (me in 23J, unallocated seat 23K) with a moderate load (this is with changing to my AA GLD OWR number at the lounge) but on the return someone with no status was in 23K. This also was a moderate load and 23 EFG was blocked (23D was probably P1 or CL - CSM brought over wine immediately after takeoff). I quickly moved to 23G after the seatbelt sign was turned off. This was probably due to the system not seeing my WP status because it was removed (OWR only). So maybe a strategy is to switch back to your WP number in the booking until right before departure (if wanting to credit elsewhere) to make the most of shadows etc where applicable.

Re: QF Y front row 747 - row 43 on new 3 Class config.

I like the window set with the toilet behind it - never get feet in the back and dont feel bad with reclining. I dont like the front row as I cannot have my legs out straight. Righto, I'm off to mortar the designer
