Qantas Red Planet

MrNatalie received the invite - PS and QP member. He did recently tweet them about our QF experience, we thought that might have gotten him included but doubt it's actually the case.

Unfortunately the link seems to be per email thing or something. If I copy the landing web address into another browser I get an error telling me to click the link in my email again.
Edit: I just tried again and this seems to work https://redplanet.qor.com.au/Rego.aspx so if you haven't received the email and are interested here you go.

Here is the text from the email as well
The Red Planet Panel is an independent online market research program established by Qantas and comprised exclusively of Qantas Frequent Flyers. We invite you to join and share your views on a range of topics including brands, products and services important to Australian businesses.

By participating in the panel, you can earn Qantas Points as well as a chance to win a share of 7.8 million points over the next 12 months.

Another lowly PS to have received the invite. They must want to hear from ageing hippies who grew up thinking mutli-media was oil paint and collage elements!

sounds like QF has joined forces/selling points to the on-line survey business... and I guess the points 'prizes' have been sold to the company commissioning the research for a hefty price.

Received & activated my invite to join Red Planet.
Completed the first two survey's which focused heavily on individual media usage ( ie use of all various forms of advertising varying from Cinema Advertising, to social
Media).

Although in my profile I haven't been asked for my QFF number yet..... I wonder if the QFF number is linked to the email mail-out?

I'm thinking more down the lines of they're using their existing skills / databases under QF Loyalty to build additional revenue in to the company. If they had sold QF Loyalty, I think this would have been a logical line for them to go down. Will be interesting to watch it evolve and how it performs.

Given they're launching a new digital-focussed market research company, my hypothesis would be that they're trying to build a database of people fitting particular profiles to send future surveys to / sell the information of. Most likely they started by targeting people in certain age brackets.

I think exceladdict has hit it on the head. Judging from slides from the Investor Day presentation, plus recent media coverage, it seems to be a (very) clever way to leverage their huge latent QFF membership to sell market research. I suspect there will be limited QFF related-surveys.

I believe based on the first two surveys.... You might be bang on with your assessment :)

Nah, I got the e-mail at 5.53pm.

I suspect this will be something like eRewards; a lot of time spent for very little in return. Not sure that I'll bother. :-|

Caveat Emptor guys... I just did the first 2 surveys and it turns out that in the case of these two that "up to 300 points per survey" ended up as ZERO .
After completing the surveys, I logged back in to my account and it listed both surveys as complete and points earned on each to be zero.
But I think I got 2 entries in a lottery that I won't win (yay).

Indeed. Need to start with a nice points award, not just a random lottery where we never find out who wins.

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Will see how the first few surveys come out, will assess my ongoing participation once I see how many points I actually get.

Up to 300 points per survey at the range of value of QFF points (0.78 cents in Points + Pay to 5 cents for International F Classic redemption) is between $2.35 to $15 worth.

Assuming it takes you 15 minutes, that's between $9.36 and $60 per hour. Is that worth the time as well as handing over your customer data and purchasing opinions to QF Loyalty and their customers? No thanks.
