I've always found all QF flights available when using the vouchers. The rules state that a voucher is only usable for domestic and international Qantas flights originating in Australia. An EK flight BNE-KUL is not a Qantas flight. When all else fails read the rules. :)

OK RichardMEL, I'll walk it back a bit. In my experience, of more than a year ago, when doing multiple searches, multiple destinations there were many instances when I was not able to get the same flight with the voucher, for the same price. I remember this very distinctly, because based on my numerous tests, I was moved to write to the ACCC with proof.

Post #77 supports my case. The flights listed may be for the same prices, but the lists are not identical. They are also for 3 months away, and all seem to have standard pricing before yield management kicks in. I would suspect that if you try and book a flight in the near future, when not all the cheapest flights are available, the differences between vouchers and real $ would be more obvious.

Sorry, but can you show where, in the first list flights QF 426 & QF 436 appear? Also, in the second list where is flight QF438?

The lists are not the same

The screenshot didn't show the full list, it was intended to show that all the cheap fares ($110) were available in both lists. I assure you, they were the same.

You are free to choose not to believe it if you wish.

Don't worry too much what others say. I wasn't imagining my experiences with gift vouchers a few months back.

Really at the end of the day we all have our choices to make for whatever reasons which may or may not seem valid to others - guess what it doesn't matter what the other guy/gal thinks. It's what you think and are comfy with in the end. For me I go with vouchers, even with the restrictions and the odd adding to the Far Queue, to avoid the CC fees and yes, the bonus points are handy. Personally I've done the fare comparison thing and have never found an issue with prices not being the same as flights I wanted sand vouchers - be they cheap fares or premium. That's just me. It works for me as long as I work within the limitations of the system and I find it worth it to me.

Everyone's welcome to go their own way based on experiences or whatever.

my point was only that, to many of us with our experiences, there hasn't been a difference in pricing. I respect some others have found different scenarios (which sucks tbh). I just find it difficult to read statements made as fact that, at least, do not match what many of us have experienced. I'm absolutely willing to accept the system has had(and still does) it's issues - no doubt - but I just didn't like reading advice stated as fact when it's clearly not a fact for everyone or all situations.

I'm NOT trying to single anyone out personally even if it seems that way folks.

I treat vouchers as "handle with care" - most of the time they work as expected no issue, sometimes they don't for one reason or another. I don't think it's intentional bias to make people pay more for tickets, or restrictions on availability due to voucher use. That's just my opinion - not a fact :)

So use or not. Up to each of us :)

Hi team - I am a bit late to the party with these vouchers and have a newbie question...

When I purchased a $400 voucher it was with the intent to get two BNE-SYD RTN tickets for my son and I. I sent the full $400 to myself as I am the one making the booking. I have gone in to book but seem to only be able to book a single seat at a time? Maybe I mis-understood how they worked!

All good, I have made two bookings one for each of us, it was just a little more clunky than I thought it would be.

Live and learn I guess! Thanks for the all the comments on here that alerted me to this little gem to get around that nasty credit card fee :)

Yeah, if you want to book for two people, you need to buy a two pax voucher

You need to nominate the number of people when you buy the voucher or buy two vouchers.

Don't be too over joy. Used to be 10 points. Bought it once and had numerous problem, it can only go on the Qantas p[art of the ticket and not the tax or fuel surcharge if any, so you may end up with left over fund that will be hard to get rid off. Read the fine print!!

Welcome to AFF Bronte :D

Unfortunately, what you have posted is mainly untrue these days.

Such may may have been the case with "vouchers" generally in the early days but since "Gift Vouchers" were reintroduced with the 10 bonus points per $, the entire value of the voucher has been applicable to all aspects making up the total cost of the ticket purchase - including fares, taxes, levies and surcharges.

Also, any residual value of $2 or more after voucher redemption is used to make a new voucher.

See here for Voucher Terms and Conditions: Qantas Vouchers | Terms and Conditions

Roughly how long should this take? I've been waiting just over 24 hours for a residual voucher - no great rush, just want to use it this week with the 50% promo :)

Usually within 5-10 minutes. There have been known issues from time to time.

Depends how long ago you are talking. There was a time in the past that the fare had to be more than the voucher, as there was no concept of the residual vouchers. This could preclude some fares from showing.

I'd give them a call and ask them to process it manually.

oh gosh yes I forgot about that restriction. Stupid and annoying at the time.

Anything voucher related (including residual credit) - if it takes >24 hours it's likely lodged firmly in the Far Queue and needs to be manually pushed. That's my general rule of thumb.

I am in the process of booking some QF flights for the next few months. Some will be just myself flying, & others will include Bee-Jnr (7 years old).

How is the best way to get the vouchers? I've received a 50% status credit offer this morning, so it's a good time to lock in the next 6 months of domestic travel.
1 - Is the voucher only valid for payment of the fares for the person named on the booking, or for the fares of the booking made by the person named on the voucher (ie, if I order the vouchers in MY name, can I book flights for myself and Bee-Jnr, or do I have to obtain vouchers for Bee-Jnr as well?)
2 - There will be more flights made by myself than Bee-Jnr, so I'll be needing to create more vouchers for myself than Jnr if we have to get them in the two separate names
3 - Is there a limitation in ordering the vouchers, ie, if I put through a test run of $500 now, so see how the booking system works, can I order additional for the same name (Me) later on during this promotion?

Hi SBB,

- you can buy as many vouchers as you can afford :)
- You can buy the voucher in any name you like, it's when they are redeemed the final pax name(s) are put in the booking. So you can get a voucher under S. Bumblebee, then redeem as J. Bumblebee
- if you intend to book trips flying together with jnr, then you'd want to purchase a voucher for 2 pax (else you would need 2 vouchers per trip, and the bookings would be treated as separate)
- it would be a very very good idea to purchase vouchers now over the next week period of your 50% SC offer :D (side effect being the bonus points, and potential amex discount if you are signed on)
