Qantas Cricket Safety video

I wonder if this is another disconnect between QF marketing and reality. Could it be the case that QF marketing feels the need to "jazz" the safety video up in a bid to keep the attention of pax?

Like most here I make a point of paying attention during the safety presentation...all 108 of them this year, and I would prefer something a little less "jazzy". The BA animated presentation is OK. I guess animation makes it a little more neutral.

Qanats must stop putting the work experience students onto many tasks (eg. this totally cringeworthy safety video and the hopelessly designed graphics on the PB lane signs). Why is all this stuff done SO amateurishly?

I would agree that the BA animated safety video is a pretty reasonable, as you say 'neutral', way to go.

I feel sorry for the poor Captain who is make to say the horribly awkward half statement "You're the reason we fly...". He just can't nail it. I hate to think how many takes he had to do. Proves it is a hopeless slogan and almost as embarrassing as the hollerin' an' a clappin'.

How is that stament supposed to end? You're the reason we fly...
- up and also down again
- but not to as many places as we used to
- with wings but not flying wings 'cos they never took off, pardon the pun

Unfortunately, "The Captain" isn't so verse in the English language. The only thing I take away from the new safety video is that "The Captain" doesn't understand the difference between "your" and "you're". Every single time, without fail, he says: "Your the reason we fly".

Are you serious? In Australian English, "your" and "you're" are spoken exactly the same. As I said the Captain is a Captain, not an actor.

It wasn't that long ago that was the routine for every single flight. Would much rather that than this poorly thought out footage.

I saw this video four times yesterday and loathed it at every viewing. I was sitting in row one on all of these flights and like to pay attention to be respectful to the staff but it gets harder with every flight.

Exactly my usual seating situation and feelings. I put my reading material down to pay attention and be respectful but then my eyes wander about as I try to avoid that cringeworthy video :-|.

Just saw the video on YouTube, i personally don't mind it (but then again i guess i'm not flying much)

My issue is that the team don't have a great deal to be celebrating at the moment - maybe they should have kept this on the shelves for when we actually won something decent (ie, if we ever get the ashes back)

The clapping and cheering was removed from the end of the video on 2 flights i took on Wednesday evening. It actually cut out completely rather than the crew turning the volume down for that part. It seemed that it had been removed from the tape. Anyone flown today and can confirm same?

It was still on QF440 MEL-SYD today, much to my chagrin.

Yep, this afternoon they cut to black straight after Cap told us we're the reason they fly, avoiding the pathetic cheering and clapping at the end.

Good to see cabin crew are able to use their judgement.

QF has a decent advertising agency now... They should use them to make a new vid pronto. I think I'd even pay a surcharge if money was an issue.

I have met the captain on the video a few times through a friend of a friend. He's a real captain and a genuinely nice guy.

Our flight this morning had the end clapping removed.. I don't mind the video overall but I do hate the clapping..
