Qantas Cricket Safety video

Bring back John Travolta.

QANTAS using sports people of any sort lowers the tone. I make sure I now put my newspaper up in front of my face when it comes on. What rubbish it is.

Thoughts?

Appallingly horrible, makes me cringe every time I see it. I have often pondered though, why does Punter get more screen time than Pup? Does Q hate Pup too?

Now with Qantas being a major supporter of Les Misérables, would it be too much to ask to have a Les Mis-themed safety demo? On the marketing side, free advertising for the film that QF is sponsoring, which would also have people actually paying attention to the demo for a change! ;) (lol.........)[/QUOTE]

Would you have Hugh Jackman sing the dialogue? :p

Maybe they should have got Max Walker and Doug Walters to do it - 1980s Tooheys beer ad style.

On the plus side, its not all bad. I flew back from LAX and the new seat covers and duvet (and possibly the pillow) was quite nice, although it was one of the last 747s that haven't been reconfigured and felt a little like putting lipstick on a pig.

QF pilot "Good morning Captain"
Greg Chappell "Good morning Captain"
Pilot "How many is Dougie good for you reckon?"
Chappell "Boys have quite a bit of dosh on 30 but Marshy is a real threat too"
Pilot, a little stunned "30 runs? Is he out of form?"
Chappell "no mate, not runs, beers. Hope your mob have the catering well sorted"

History shows of course Chappell was right: Marsh 55 not out; Walters 44.

The first time I experienced it, I had no screen (I think I was in 4A/4F on a BSI 738 where screens can only be raised after take-off). I wondered what on earth all the clapping was about (as I imagine most from overseas would when sitting in seats with in-arm IFE)... Similarly, I also cringe at the "Captain, Captain" line - it does seem very forced haha! I usually try to watch the safety demo - more out of courtesy to the crew, even though I could probably recite it verbatim (with the exception of all the little cricket comments added to the latest one)... when there are so many cringe-worthy spots in the cricket one, it does make it difficult! :D

Les Mis themed - PLEASE NO! I can only imagine Qantas parodying the Les Mis soundtrack: 'will you join us on our plane, who will be strong and sit by me'

LOL!!! i had that in my head but no words... you could also have Hugh and Russell singing off about stowing bags and belts!

Ha! I don't mind it. The clapping and cheering is awful though.
I'm just thankful they don't get Michael Slater to say anything (I hate him so much).

Oh dear, oh dear. And here was I, looking forward to my first non-work flight in over the month coming up this Sunday. All this talk makes me vomit already without even having seen it yet!

I spoke to 2 crew members today whilst I was flying on a domestic QF flight. The cabin manager deliberately reduced the volume right at the end just before the clapping and shouting and I mentioned to him that I appreciated it! They were both pretty disgusted in the video and found it tacky and low class. So yes from my random survey of 2 crew members, they hate it too.

QANTAS: PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS. YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO BE THE PROFESSIONAL, PREMIUM AIRLINE. This rubbish is doing nothing to help your cause. I expect this cough on low cost carriers not the 'Spirit of Australia'.

I wonder if this is another disconnect between QF marketing and reality. Could it be the case that QF marketing feels the need to "jazz" the safety video up in a bid to keep the attention of pax?

Like most here I make a point of paying attention during the safety presentation...all 108 of them this year, and I would prefer something a little less "jazzy". The BA animated presentation is OK. I guess animation makes it a little more neutral.

I hate the animations... worse than the cricketers!

I'm betting if you polled most pax that aren't regular flyers they would probably say they like the video..

Personally i like the JT one, sans someone deciding to call Cabin Crew "team" which sounds so McDonalds.

Sometimes it's the "Spirit of Australians" a premium airline about to create an uber-premium carrier in Asia "Red-something-maybe" and they are very jealous of NZ safety videos. :DSometimes I think anyone could be the CEO/management of an airline...
But somehow I like QF a lot, fly them a lot and I even own shares:shock:

My plans are getting close to completion. So now I have to make you suffer QF PB as I have and then force you to sit through the DJ Safety Presentation on their A330 with the Cartoon Richard Branson!!!!!! Let me go away to practice my evil laugh!!

Has anyone seen the safety video on NiKi with a giant ugly fly...scary stuff...

I have met the captain on the video a few times through a friend of a friend. He's a real captain and a genuinely nice guy.

Now how you plan to take me through a QF PB Fail and watch the DJ safety video (yes it's horrid too!) is going to be interesting!!!
