The first time I experienced it, I had no screen (I think I was in 4A/4F on a BSI 738 where screens can only be raised after take-off). I wondered what on earth all the clapping was about (as I imagine most from overseas would when sitting in seats with in-arm IFE)... Similarly, I also cringe at the "Captain, Captain" line - it does seem very forced haha! I usually try to watch the safety demo - more out of courtesy to the crew, even though I could probably recite it verbatim (with the exception of all the little cricket comments added to the latest one)... when there are so many cringe-worthy spots in the cricket one, it does make it difficult!
Now with Qantas being a major supporter of
Les Misérables, would it be too much to ask to have a Les Mis-themed safety demo? On the marketing side, free advertising for the film that QF is sponsoring, which would also have people actually paying attention to the demo for a change!
(lol.........)
